Why not just get a EF cluster with tach? That way you wouldn't be taking a step back in time.

what do you mean by "step back in time"? its a cluster from the 90 crx, same year as my civic. id just buy a 90 civic si cluster, as from what i understand apparently thats my problem, but im having trouble finding one for a reasonable price

Just get a small aftermarket tach and attach it. Then you can use your stock cluster. An aftermarket tach doesn't cost that much, and 4 wires installs it.

apparently, the 88-89 clusters differ from 90-91 in the number of plugs(2 or 3) and the locations and colors of the signal wires. im now in the market for 90-91 cluster, and have a 88-89 cluster for sale. weak
