I am trying to find out what ECU is part # 37820-P72-A05 I currently have a 37820-P72-013 (JDM GSR OBD2a) and i'm looking for a backup for quick and easy replacement. What ECU is the A05? I've been trying to find a site that has all ECU part #'s listed which would be the easiest way to answer my question, but not having any luck with that.

Where does that tell me what the part # is? Also where does it distinguish between JDM and USDM? There are many different P72 ECU's. __________________

in 88-91 ecus (PM6, PR4, PW0, PR3, PM7):
5spd = 000, 001, 002, A00, A01, A10, J00, J001, C01, C00 Auto = J51, J50, A50, A51, 901, A60, C50, C51, X30, A80, L50, L51 92-5 ECUs (P28, P30, P61, P72, P91, P08) 5spd = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A02, C00, C01, C02, J00, J01, J02, G00, G01 Auto = J50, J51, 901, 902, C50, C51, C52, A50, A51, A52, L50, L51, G51 96-00 ECUs (P2E, P2P, P2J, P72) 5spd = 000, 001, 002, 003, A00, A01, A03, C00, C01, C02, C03, J00, J01, J02, A11, C11 Auto = A70, A71, A72, A91, A92, C70, C71, C72, C91, C92 from the patterns we can learn the following: first letter = country of orgin J = Japan C= Canada A=USA G=Europe second digit, if 5, 7, 9 then ecu is auto usually third digit denotes the version/variation L = California emissions or typically high altitude states as well. |

The above list still does not clarify whether or not it's OBD-1 or OBD-2a vs. OBD-2b and also does not list the A05 or 013 which are the two i'm trying to compare I know the P72-013 is the OBD-2 JDM GSR. Nobody knows where the Honda bible is that has the part # information? I've seen it somewhere before but cannot remember where I saw it.

that IS A USDM 5 spd, p72, you don't need a honda parts catalog to verify this, if you look at what sol posted, you could have figured it out. there are no questions about it, it is usdm.............

OK I found the information I needed for everyone's future reference here is the link to what I was looking for which tells me without a doubt by the part #'s which ECU belongs to which motor and will distinguish the difference between USDM vs. JDM and OBD-2a vs OBD-2b. I would like to thank everyone for their help though.
http://www.pgmfi.org/twiki/bin/view/Librar...DefinitionCodes Based off of this list the only one that is compatible with my motor without modifying ECU or my current setup would be the P72-Q13 as long as it only requires 1 02 sensor. So therefore i'm pretty limited to what I can use as a stock replacement. __________________

it would be much easier and just as cheap to just get an obd2 -> obd1 conversion harness so that you can use any obd1 manual ecu, that way you're not so limited trying to find one particular ecu for 1 o2 sensor.

another P72-013? well could I say you are just in luck? I recently bought a JDM swap and got that ECU. Like yourself, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out exactly what ECU it was (obd wise) and yea I found out it was JDM OBD2a BUT, a big BUT that is, the ECU is considered OBD1 according to US standards. This is because there are a few things missing. The things missing from that ECU are of course the 2nd heated o2 sensor. the CKF (crankcase fluctuation sensor), the EVAP purge solenoid (emissions) and the VTEC pressure switch. some of these nonsense emissions components aren't used in japan so they aren't built into the ECU. I'm converting the motor to USDM spec which means I bought a USDM P72-A03 ecu (which I think is for a 97 gsr), so I won't be needing this JDM ecu anymore. The ECU looks visually like it's been through a lot but I'll refund you 100% if it doesn't work. And according to acura, a p72-A05 belongs to a 00-01 USDM GSR. My email is seephor@hotmail.com if you want to contact me. good luck

Well, I picked up a P72-013 off Ebay which appears to be in great shape for only $61 shipped. Couldn't have done a conversion harness and ECU for less than that.
