ive got the hondata s300 and it says it has lambda tracing but it requires wideband o2. do i need to get just the sensor or something more?

you need to have an analog signal comng from a wideband controller. So, yes, you need a wideband. Innovate LC-1 is the best bang for the buck if you are using a tracing feature in Hondata. Pick it up from www.Xenocron.com , and call it a day.
