Default p28 and d15b fuel economy

I get 18 miles per gallon mpg with this combo with a del sol

would I get better economy if I picked up the ecu specifically for this car from honda?

its got the header and intake/throttle body of a d16y8

I think the ecu is the P08j

just to clarify, I bought the Car with that ECU and Engine Combo, Is it worth getting a P08J put in, will it put my fuel economy up?
does the displacement make a major difference?
where should I get the p08j? how much is reasonable to pay?

You should always run the ECU that goes with the car, swapping ECUs will do nothing for you, and in most cases (like yours) is worse for your car.

Uh, dude. A p28 is designed for a d16z6. The only way you'll see a power improvement swapping to a p28 is if you are swapping to a chipped p28, or you have a d16y8. Your d15b7 is running way too rich. Swap it out before you screw up the piston rings, then change your oil.

Bottom line: Get the right ecu (P08), or chip it with the proper basemap.

Is it a D15B VTEC? If so, a P28 would run that fine. If you're getting 18MPG, I'm going to say there's something else wrong with your car.

i have to agree. the p28 should be able to run a D15B vtec fine.. just a slight drop i mpg and a little loss in performance due to the fuel and timing maps being off from eachother. but should still get around 30 mpg or better with the d15 p28 combo. Something else has to be wrong with the vehicle.. Are you still runing the four wire o2 sensor with the p28? does it run rough?
