Default Vtec point?

Hey, quick question I need answered by tomorrow...

What is the best spot without extensive tuning To set the vtec point at for N/A? Some sites say 4500, some 4800, some 5000 and others 5500.

I was thinking 5k, but I just want a solid answer first. Lemme know, thanks.

Throw it on the dyno, do a full pull on the low lobes only, look at the chart, locate where the power starts to dip/fall off, put VTEC right there. Done...

Ya I'm not throwing it on the dyno until I go boost, this was just to get the p08 basemaps and I figured since the vtec point was customizable yhere might be a "range" I could set it
too in order to maximize effect.

Still time left, somebody chime innnnn

it depends on your setup... Most stock or mildly modified B16 engines about 5500 is good. Gsr with sk2 manifold around the same, B20 around 5200.....

We've found that this doesn't always work the best. Especially on engines with aggressive cams/ lots of overlap. If you set the VTEC where the low lobes begin to loose power, sometimes the high cam isn't near the efficiency range and will continue loosing power for several RPM.

IN MY OPINION - The best way is to do a pull on the low lobes, then one on the high lobe( set VTEC around 3k) Then, set VTEC where the torque curve of the two graphs intersect.

Usually after playing with cam timing/overlap, you can get the low cams to gain torque for several hundred RPM further, then raise the VTEC point

K I'll just keep it at 5500rpm, 300 down from stock engagement.

I agree, but he said "without extensive tuning" If you're not going to go through with a full tune, the way I mentioned is the next best thing...
