Hey im new to this site and i was just looking for some help
I have a B18A1 motor in my 1991 acura integra
And im trying to build the motor
But i dont want to blow the motor by putting in wrong parts
Anybody want to let me know what i should do to start building my LS

Thanks

Do you plan on keeping it non vtec? Nitrous? Turbocharged? Maybe a simple oem re-build to freshen up the engine?

Do research and figure out exactly what you want to accomplish.

Ok i have a basic idea..
I know my ls has horrabile flow so i need it ported and polished and also a new intake manifold witch i have by skunk 2
And i wanted to throw some cams and cam gears while leaving my bore at 81mm
So i was thinkin maybe some JDM b16a pistons
But not sure if they will fit and waht kind of cams or gears to use
And would replaceing my valves and springs be worth the money

Whether or not you should replace your springs and retainers depends on what kind of cams you get. If you choose cams that will make power past your stock redline, then yeah, you should upgrade your valve train so you can safely utilize that power. I would look towards Crower for cams, they make some nice street ones that aren't horribly expensive.

The B16 pistons are a great idea to get some extra power out of an LS. And like you said, the LS head doesn't flow very well, so a port and polish and a nice intake manifold would be great ideas as well.

Check out the reference section. There's an article in there describing an LS build that sounds almost exactly like what you're trying to do.

EDIT: Here, I found it for you: https://hondaswap.com/general-tech-articles/building-ls-all-motor-monster-31401/

Hey i have the money to grab some cams, intake manifold, pistons, and some springs and retainers but dont have the cash to port and polish the head... would it be harmful to run those parts with the airflow in the head??

Or would i be ok throwing in the part and waiting on the port and polish job?

dont forget a new oil pump! I would wait until the port and polish or wait to get the cams last. That way you dont have to tear it all apart later. Good luck on your build man

Ok so i was told that the jdm P30 pistons wont work with the Ls build becasue the values would hit the piston...
Now anybody know if thats true or should the p30's be ok to put in??

:huh:who tols you that a mechanic? My friend had that done on his lsvtec so i know its possible. Maybe if your using some cams are huge but i dount it. What do you plan on doing as far as headgasket or milling? are you doind that because that could affect the valve to piston clearance.

I say you can use those pistons:)

Im going to use the 403 crowler cams and aem true time cam gears

And i want to port and polish my head and not sure about the head gaskets yet...

Anything you recommend so i dont f*** up?

Thanks

As far as the P30 pistons go......they go as far up as the ls pistons do but the dome might clear the valve and might not clear the valve, only way you will know is either ask someone who already knows this or test it out yourself by using clay on top of the piston and see if the valve indents the clay and obviously if there is an indent than its going to hit and if not you have nothing to worry about. The crankshaft is already balanced but it wouldn't hurt to get the entire reciprocating assembly balanced, ask Blanco about that cause he helped me deal with that issue before. 3 angle valve job on the head can always give you some extra hp and than you can save your money for a P&P and do it yourself. I used a angle grinder with 400 grit sandpaper. Remember that the longer runners on the intake manifold = low end torque and short = high rpms. If you do mill the head and if its gets too close to hitting the piston with the valve maybe the cosmetic gaskets will work cause they have different thickness gaskets.

different weight?????? Well why would I have to balance mine with aftermarket parts because they are not oem but they do weigh different and have different shape and size????? Well my "Honda Master Tech" says you have to balance the crankshaft after any new parts put on, either I didn't understand him fully or he just thinks he knows everything.

Lol okay mom relax dude its just a question. Well see if ya just picture it like I do than you'll see what im getting at but forget this whole thread. Point Blanco is making is that you dont have to balance cause its balanced from the factory and anything with oem stuff or even if its aftermarket, it wouldn't hurt to balance the reciprocating assembly but its not recommended. Right????? 1 question Blanco are you even certified of anything and you basically got your knowledge from reading and do it yourselfers, right???? HAHA if someone wrote the book than basically your reading what someone is telling and therefore you can't say dont listen to everything you hear cause reading books is pretty much the same thing as listening to people just in paper with words but I get your point cause people make books so we know the truth and understanding of the proper ways and not jimmy rigged or false information...ect. Am I getting this clear through my head?????

Blanco why is you build cred always cominng into question with these noob. personally i would just stop helping them.

Before you fucking noobs start doubting his abilities why dont you read up on all the stuff he has built in past threads. Or advice he has given to even the most knowledgable members on here. Stop asking stupid questions on the answers he gives you. if you doubt him then go look/experiment for yourself and prove him wrong. Dont just post shit like the above quote........which by the way shows that he failed english class.

No you dont need to balance it. yes you could if you were a picky asshole that just wanted to say you balanced it. This certain setup will yield no different result whether you do or you dont.
