My question is, Is it possible to boost a stock Type R with stock internals. If this is possible what would be the most psi you would be able to push out of the engine. This question may seem dumb but i only ask it because im going to buy a Type R motor preatty soon and i read on the following Super Street article http://www.superstreetonline.com/featuredv...vehicles/30478/ and this guys running a Type R turbo set up on stock internals and hes making 328.5 hp at 8,400 rpm with 208.8 lb-ft.

of course its possible, but is it a good idea?
why not save the money you spend on the R motor and buy a GSR to boost? it is a waste of money to boost an R. how much PSI depends on turbo, tuner, fuel. __________________

I don't think it is so much a waste to boost it, as it would be to replace the internals to run higher boost. MOst people start on a lower compression ratio, and with cams that don't overlap, lift and have the duration that ITR's do. It makes it easier to tune, and you can run higher PSI. It is a waste to buy an ITR and then replace all the stuff that makes it an ITR, but you can boost a stock one. Colorpros on here has a ITRT, you can PM him and check his set up.

why? because the CR on an R is 11.1:1, GSR is 10.0:1 the cams on the R have more overlap, which means you will loose boost. and because the R costs much more than the GSR, this makes it a waste. __________________

lots of pro drivers run 10.5:1 compression on their crazy boosted civics out there, what about a B18c5 with crower rods and JE pistons.
I say the cams are the most that I would go concerning overlapp, B will differ ![]() __________________
