I figured I'd post a few pics of the rebuild I'm working on this week. Not much else to do and I can answer questions if anyone is thinking about doing their own.

New valve seals. Mic'd the stems and guides while I was at it. Thankfully everything turned out to be in spec.

Honed for Molly or cast? (slick or rough)
Once I had a block honed for molly rings and at the last sec decided to use cast and forgot..
Smoked for months until they seated like they should have.

I don't have a car I can put this in atm. Prolly gonna sell it after I'm done to free up room for my main project :)

nice.. talk to jeffie7 on here, hes got a pretty sick boosted z

this looks like a nice build. you should paint that timing cover too while youre right there. but it still looks nice. anyhow, what did you pay doing it yourself if you dont mind me asking. i have about 800 into that ford V-8 on my avitar but thats because i got a good relationship with my machine shop.

I wasn't sure If I could spraypaint the cover or not with the same stuff I used for the valve cover, never done it. I really wish I had looked into a powder coating setup. That stuff looks real sharp.
So far I've spent just over 500 bucks. Ring were about 28 per set; bearing halves 5 or 6 a piece. over 200 in gaskets and 60 for the lost motion assembly holder that the previous owner had overtorqued until it broke. Everything else is just little odds and ends that added up, mostly bolts that it was missing.

Oh, and the machine shop I went to only charged 60 for a cleanup and hone. Everything was pretty true, the main bearing bores are about .001 out of round but the tolerance is right at that. I reused the stock pistons so my piston to wall clearance is .0003 over the max but I don't think it will hurt much.

yeah it looks good though. where can i find powder coated timing cover sets for my 90 GS integra motor and my 91 accord LX and my 88 prelude SI? my integra and accord have fully rebuilt engines (but i let the machine shop build em for me) and i want powder coated timing covers for all my engines if possible. the prelude engine is going to the machine shop next week or so for its rebuild. depends when the shop has time since i'm only paying 500 bucks for the parts. they're gonna hook up the labor of the machining as a favor to me for all the business i send them. but i want those covers if i can get em from some manufacturer. you know that SI dont even need the rebuild but a customer gave it to me and it was in nice shape. no dents. just has a dirty engine and a few leaks so its gettin a full rebuild for the hell of it.

If you're going to powder coat all of them..Amazon.com: Eastwood Hotcoat Powder Coating Gun - PowderCoat Coat: Home Improvement ? Thats what I was looking at. Maybe pick up some extra covers from a place like pullapart.

I have a f22 in my prelude right now that needs a rebuild- 250k so far. I'm selling that bike in the pic so I can pick up another car. I dunno, I like just putting these little motors together for fun. I'm gonna put this one on ebay after I'm done.
