hi everybody, what ive done is got a b18c gsr engine, u know the one with the snail manifold, that is meant to make 180hp... i think the ecu/head is p72. anyhow, im going to port out the head allowing more air to breath throu it, like the dvd omniman did with the b16a InterTune.Tv - Home of Omniman's 200whp B16 Video DVD Resource . and im also going to tune my ecu accordingly to keep the air/fuel ratios correctly so theres little to none detonation.
now for the hard stuff., ive purchased some je forges pistons with 81.5 specs so im going to bore out the block .5 and install them., however im alittle worryed about the compression ratio now standard i think is 10.0 or integra type r is like 11.0... now these pistons say on the side of them it will make a compression ratio of 11.5 is that safe on a standard head? with standard valves. and what should i do to the head other then porting it out. would it be best to get type r cams or should i spend my money on after market valves cause ive heard of the stock ones floting causing serious piston damage... thankyou |

Welcome to hondaswap man, and 11.5 is pretty good for compression. A decent set of cams will do well on that compression. You could even go higher....... but what you have isn't bad at all.
Does it say what the dome c.c. is or the compression height of the pistons? __________________

if i was you i would get better valves and cams if you went that far already. Even then maybe some valve springs if your wallet can take it. Make sure you adjust your valves accordenly. Plus with the higher compression on a new motor your gonna need to break it in with 104 octane, and run it on 94 + after that. other wise you'll be fine.. look into an ignition also.

thanks guys, all your input has really helped me cause i really don't know what im doing since this is the first time i build up a b18c. to be honest im really trying to stick to a budget cause i already spent $$ on the pistons, and now i gota spend $$ on the boring of the block. what i might do is leave the head standard. for now, hopefully it wont cause me any damage. cause cams are like 1000, and valves are like 500. and any head work would cost me big $$ cause im in australia and there really isnt much honda experts around. and what really hurts is that i would have a $5g engine in a eg honda civic which these days you cant sell them for big $$$.. anyhow, thankyou all for helping
