This is a discussion on Rebuild B18C or build Ls/Vtec? in the Engine Building forum

I have a blown GSR motor and I was thinking of rebuilding it. I believe it spun a bearing, but not entirely sure. I'm on a budget, but I was also thinking of building an LS/Vtec with the head, manifold and anything else I could use. I know alot of the cost depends on the machining required to rebuild the B18C, but I was also wondering about the power comparison between the two as well as reliability. I've been researching alot on a LS/Vtec build, but I'm sure which route I should take? Any input would be great. Thanks

ls/vtec will make slightly more power and tq due to slightly more displacement. stock block i would rather have the b18c. if the blocks were built, id go ls/vtec

Get an LS crank and rods, then use them in the GSR block with a nice set of custom pistons. You'll have all the advantages of the LS/VTEC but with the features of the GSR block.

I was thinking of that, which leads me into my next question, where can I get a set of JDM P30 pistons (or PR3) for a good price? A place in Canada would be preferably. I've seen shit on Ebay, but I don't really trust what I see.
