naive, but its the source. I had my iat fked when the guy sold me my engine, changed it and its good to go. Its very important sensor; it tells the ecu what the air temp is right before combustion so the ecu can regulate fuel mix appropratly. No signal means you'll run under ghost limp mode because the car knows its on, but after a while the car will think that no air is getting to the engine there for no fuel should go into it aka why your car spudders for a bit. Until you change it, when you find the car dying off, pull of to the side (or if your an idiot like me while still rolling) turn it off, wait 2 seconds and turn it back on with your foot down on the throttle the whole way. It'll reset that shit.

can you take any pics? to me thats perfect thats the motor blows up. It saves you money and helps use it on a more worthy engine.

Sorry I haven't been on in awhile. Unfortunately, I am not a very reliable source of good information when it comes to troubleshooting. All I know is what I have experienced, and that is very little when it comes to diagnosing problems. I too have some unused plugs from my swap and am also missing a plug for the IAT sensor. I have no clue where it is, if it is needed, or how to fix the issue. I wish I could be of more assistance, but at least I might have helped a little bit...kinda sorta. Good luck to you. I don't know why someone more useful hasn't replied to this thread, these all sound like valid questions to me, but what do I know? haha Have you tried searching for the answers in the search engine?

looks like detonation maybe, spark plug tip too but here is a pick from a head i pulled off a friends itr motor that had 2 tips break off in. the pistons didnt look like the one you showed but the tips turned into little bb's and bounced around so maybe that is what your piston had happen to it. Just odd it didnt hit anywhere else but those sides.

Did you actually see his head that he pulled off?

also is just me or did anyone notice the outer cylinder looks like its cracked at the top in the pic with the bad piston?

well first off your distributor should only go in one way so you shouldn't be 180 out unless you forced the distributor on there, another thing is that your head i think may have marks on each side and your new adj. cam gear should have two marks on each side showing the two marks your suppose to line up with your head and your crank will have marks on the gear with the block line then up make sure when you making sure when you check the belt that the timing marks are not off by a few teeth. there are free manuals on the web where you can download the manual for free and you can check to make sure that what im telling you is correct.
hope this helps if not use google helped me out a lot when needing diagrams and stuff.
