some people do, others don't because it keeps coolant from reaching parts of the cylinder sleeve and it can create hot spots which aren't good.

useless.
98% of cracked sleeves START at the center, and work their way up. the block guard at the top does nothing but add heat to the combustion chamber, leading to more detonation, leading to more cracking in the first place. sleeve it, or leave it stock |

![]() The block guard won't prevent cylinder wall failure, it'll just catch the rod that would sling through the block, and even then, they don't always work. __________________
