Default Which exhaust great for turbo?

hey guys! I'm done with my turbo install on my EG 4 door sleeper! B16 with turbonectics t3/t04b h-trim. .63 a/r. Problem is my exhaust is still stock so I get a big lag and I am thinking of getting a full after market exhaust system. I'm thinking on getting a Greddy SP2 or Tanabe hyper medalion. Which exhaust sytem do ya'll recommend? remember now it's a sleeper, so quiet and efficient is what I'm lookin for!

Custom. 2.5 or 3" from the turbo-back with no restrictions is ideal. I'm using a Magnaflow Race mid muffler and no cats.

Will the exhaust size stop the turbo from reaching peak boost? my wastegate is set to 6psi but I dont even reach it. I dont think there's any leak in the charge pipes! But I'll double check anyways

What size turbo? It may be too big of a turbine housing to spool it fully.

OR

If its an internal wastegate, pull the actuator rod off and make sure there is some tension on it to reach the flapper. This way it guarantees it will stay closed tightly unitl you want it to open

OR

Leaky BOV flange, Leaky charge pipe, something leaking boost

well i guess i found the problem! My stock muffler wasn't cutting it.. Too much resriction i guess because when I removed it I'm able to reach peak boost and it spools up much quicker! but I can't stand the sound. do you think a stock itr muffler will be just as good as a aftermarket exhaust?

bigger the better, if your worried about noise, run resonators.

i suggest a 3 inch system for anything up to about 550whp, more than that run 4 inch

aluminum with v bands mmmmmm

i wouldn't drive too much on that stock exhaust bro. Cuz i have a b16 in my EG with little done to it. On stock exhaust and the back pressures causing "reversion" which is cracking the ceramic tips of my fuel.injecters to crack! b-careful. Oh 3'' perfect for the exhaust. unless u plan on makin it ungodly fast, then go bigger. =)

"Technically all turbos can blow that motor up!" " If not all! MOST!"
depending on the tuning but I say go with a t3/to4e .57/.63 a/r. Also try staying away for cheapy ebay turbo kits..

i would go with a 2.5" summit turbo muffler and 2.5" piping all the way back, remove the cat and it will be great flowing and quite.

Well Im probably gona sound like a "Tree Hugger" saying this... But I would really recommend a Hi flow cat. as alternative.Especially wen it's a daily driver. After wat I've learned while attending "UTI" about Emmission and wat not. . I mean There's a very good reason why it is a Federal offence to tamper with emmission devices....If NOT.. Then dont forget your "sun screenz" boyz and girlz...

if thats the case then you should never swap a motor into a differant car because most of the time they never pass emissions.

i would go for the hi flo cat cause if you want to take it in to a shop and they see that there is no cat they won't work on it for you.(that's how it is here in mt anyways)not saying you don't do all the work on your car but it might have to go in sometime. get the 3" exaust. my friend has a tanabe setup on his civic and it is kinda noisy(in a good way though!) don't know if you should really worry about the noisy exaust if you've got a turbo cause they're gonna hear you spoolin' up and the wistle of the bov is gonna tell em too.

Ok now! I dont know if you read the thread very well but I'm goin for the "SLEEPER" look and sound! And... Here in Hawaii there's no smog test what so ever, so I'm running it with no muffler and gutted cat right now but its still stock piping and resonator! Doesn't sound that loud but would be nice if it was a little softer! Will probably do the 3" cat back or get a greddy sp2 set up! I'm in a budget right now because the turbo set up set me back a little!

I'm running a single slam with a T3/T4 57 trim, it starts to build boost at 3100, I have a 2.5 inch system with two resonators and one turbo dynomax muffler. Its quiet but I used a dump pipe for my wastegate and from day one the wastegate does not fully seat, it stays off the seat by about a millimeter or two, I took it apart and there are no adjustments for it. So I am heading back to the muffler shop soon to plumb the dump pipe into the main pipe. Something to think about when you are setting yours up..

I dont mine the dump being loud @ WOT. It's the daily driving that gets on my nerves. espicially on the freeway reving 3000 goin only 55mph! Yeah I start to build boost around 3000rpm too.

Noob alert! When I bolted on the waste gate I forgot to add the valve seat for the gate. No leaks now and I know some have dynoed using a separate dump pipe and make more power that way. With the 2.5 system and turbo it starts building boost at 2500! this is with a T3/T4 57 trim .63 turbo! And its very very quiet.

if you are happy with 250hp stick with 2.5", if you want more than that, then go with 3". if you are aiming for more than 500hp you will want 4"

tanabe makes great exhausts .. the Concept-g & Medalion are supposed to be pretty quiet.

I think I made it one of my options beside an itr exhaust! Thanks though!
