Default ?perfect a/f?

so i have always been told 14.7 a/f is the ideal amount but today my friend tells me this guy he knows who has a redline with aftermarket fuel parts and pullly for his super charged ion. he says 14.7 is to lean and that my friends talon should be running 10.5-11.5 a/f? is this correct or is this guy high? or is it different turbo>superchargers

With a turbo/supercharger/boost application, rich is safe. 10 is overkill. 12 should work beautifully. Always err on the side of rich though. Fouled plugs are cheaper to replace than engines.

aleaf.CRX: I've never had steering this bad on a vehicle before. I'm afraid it's going to jump in the other lane and attack someone

14.7:1 is stoich.
low 14's- high 13's is good for all motor
right around 12:1 is good for turbo.

10 is pig rich, wastes fuel, and robs power.

---yes 14.7 is stoich which is stock on all cars. and also tru all cars have a preset A/F ratio table on WOT (stands for wide open throttle<--for noobs) when WOT is hit the vehicle ecu will turn to a preset fuel and A/F table which will run slightly richer(below 14.7:1)

---why is lean only good all motor?
12:1 A/F ratio is slightly richer yes which aids in knock/detonation/& preignition)

All motor is basically the same as forced induction in a way.

all motor--> run higher compression pistons (EX : 14:1 compession ratio pistons)so the engine will compress more air on its own thus more power.
forced induction--> run lower compression pistons (EX : 8:1 compession ratio pistons) so it will compensate for all the air that is being forced into the engine.

--> both motors are trying to compess as much air as possible more air+ more fuel= more HP

you run lean yes you will create more HP no doubt.
LEAN condition-- higher cyl temp. cause preignition/ detonation..basically more of a risk of damaging engine internals frm heat.

you run rich yes it is safer, cyl temp is lower.

basically A/F ratio is to keep the engine running @ the target HP you plan (EX:500HP) safely.

remember to *rich you will washboard the cyl walls to *lean overheat.

i think i said to much
