I have heard about putting vitara pistons and stuff into a d16 turbo and it lowers the comp ratio and is alot stronger and can run safely 12-15 pounds, is this true?what other parts do i need for the bottom end rebuild.

Ben

its true
the only reason you can run more boost is because of the low ass CR.

in HT you can search for panda motor..

you can use b16 rods or you can buy the cheaper tuner toys rods [they are forged] but youll have to notch the block with the TT rods

Not 100% correct...

The pistons that people like to use are aftermarket pistons made FOR the Vitara that are actually stronger than factory. Pair them with B16 rods and you have a cheap combo that can handle a od bit of boost.

where would i get these rods and pistons from and roughly price? I live in ontario canada, know any good shops or websites?? also i have a friend offering to sell me his 9lb fidenza flywheel and stage 2 excedy clutch for 550. and hes got a skunk to intake manifold he wants 300 for, is this good? would u recommend this stuff on my turbo d?

550 is a little steep but okay m2c
300 for the manifold is not good

Honda-Tech.com: Main has tons of info just search... i wish i could give you more info but i anly know bseries and ef/ek models

Clutch/flywheel prices are good for brand new parts, especially considering you're talking about CAN dollars.

The piston/rod combo can be found by searching for "TurboPanda" on Honda-Tech. He sold them.

look up the user FJT on honda-tech he sells them for pretty cheap. i'm actually planning on building another D series to run while my all motor gsr is getting sleved this winter.
there are a few people runnign nothign more then vitara pistons, eagle rods, with ARP headstuds and running crazy boost. i'll look and see if i can find the post of one that comes to mind and post it up.

This weekend we had a local dyno day from a local website... http://www.idahostreetracing.com i decided to roll down and see what the beast could put down, as i have never had it on the dyno with high boost. i only got 3 runs and no tuning was involved because of the time crunch...pretty much strap it down and see what it runs...i was thinking prolly 350+ but then this came up
405whpdynous1.jpg

just for reference my setup is this
stock z6 head
stock z6 intake manifold
y8 block with VITARA's and eagle rods, other wise stock
drag manifold
t3/t4 57 trim .60/.63 about 25psi
3" open downpipe
street tuned on cromePro by me O0
im extremely stoked on these numbers, i never expected it to be over 400whp...it suprised the hell out of me because im still on teh stock head and stock intake manifold...oh and the shitty drag manifold, cant believe i got 400 hp out of that too!!! and for the haters these vitaras ROCK! FJT informed me that this IS a new record for the most horespower made on these pistons...and for those that say it wont last....its been boosted and running 20+psi daily for the last 9 months allready... :S :6

My sohc 4dr civic, 400whp and runs 11.43 @ 127mph and 2750lbs:S
dietzburnout.jpg

the vitaras are on ebay all the time for around 130 shipped tuner toys supplies the rods for 225 plus shipping

I have a couple of ?s.
What octain fuel are you running for the 400hp,and how well was it tuned?
At the strip what type of tires did you use?
Did you have to bore out the block for the vitara pistons?
And what piston rings did you use?

you should always run 91 octane when driving a boosted car, and the numbers show it was tuned well, probly runs 24" slicks or slightly smaller, the pistons drop right in a stock d series and come with rings normally if you get them from FJT or ebay.
