i take no credit for this... but i built mine own according to this article.

bought my materials at rad shack for $20



open it up.



the microphone was cut off of the circuit board. take care to not forget the polarity. i wired up 6ft of wire and soldered it to the mic, then stuffed it into the alligator clip and secured it.



repeat on the other side. i used green for negative and red for positive.



put it back together and test it out. works best with a friend. put the headphones on and clip the "mic" to something that makes noise (like the fridge... or your cat!) turn it on and listen!
