My friend has a bone stock 99/00 civic 4 dr LX (economy car). She has had the car for a few years. It has 50,000 miles. All of a sudden this morning it didn't start. When she turned the key it cranked but didn't turn over. Her radio comes on like normal. Any ideas what it could be? Or what it is not? What can I check?

altenator, battery might not have enough volts, a relay could be bad. Start at the battery and work your way from there.

If it cranks like it wants to start (powerful crank), THen it is not the battery or starter. DO you hear the fuel pump when the key is turned to the on position, just before you start cranking? IF you can't, then your relay or fuel pump is bad. If you can, then check your distributor by doing the cap, rotor and wire replacement. If not that, then you might want to check your coil.

Ok the car starts now, it just takes one or two cranks longer. What could it be? It drives fine with no loss of power. Could it be alternator?
