Someone awhile back did a write up on a auto to manual conversion and said something about a cable that went I think over by the passenger side for the ignition. Well I got my key stuck in the ignition and am looking for this stupid cable? Anybody know where it is. Its a `91 crx.

I don't know what you removed when you did your conversion, but make sure that the car "thinks" that the old auto shifter is in park. My gear selector module is still in the car, so I just locked it to P with a custom bracket that I made in about 5 minutes. If you cut yours, get the right resistance (or whatever signal it's throwing) from the wires that correspond to park, then make sure that the car "sees" that signal all the time.

hmm, sometimes it wants to come out sometimes it dont....there was a wire harness by the shifter I havn't hookup up yet because I didn't wire the backup lights yet. I thought it was some cable or something.

It should be a signal sent to the key interlock mechanism. You just have to trick the interlock into thinking that you're always in park.

When I did this swap for a freind, I wired up the park safety switch to itself, so that way it always made contact. The park safety switch is just a switch that when in park, it makes contact. The car no longer has the gear selector module in the car and works fine.

Teh little box thing next to where the shifter used to be... it slideds back and forth inn p - n etc... push the little slider all the way up into P then super glue their. this makes the car think its in park and the key will come out.

Yep, that was a super easy fix, I looked at the old automatic shifter and figured out which wires you need. Basically on the side of the old automatic shifter there is a white slide switch that is bolted on, take it off. Take off the zip-tie and remove the tape around the wires. There are three black wires in there, 2 striped, 1 not. Cut black wire (not striped) as close to the solder joint as possible. Cut the green/white wire (farthest green wire away from harness) as close to the solder joint as possible. Splice, and SOLDER the two wires you just cut together, shrink tube or tape it. Plug the nine pin wire harness in and leave it under the molding, nobody is going to look under there anyway. Your done, you can now remove your key!
