what would need to be done to convert a car with an automatic transmission to a manual transmission??? and would it be costly???

Yes it is costly, most of the people on this site are going to tell you to sell it and get another car that is already a 5speed.

just the labor alone can touch 1,000. Sometimes you have to weld mounts to the frame for the pedals and linkage, not to mention new tranny, clutch, and/or ECU and engine mods. sell your auto to some commuter, and use the cash to buy a manual project. they are usually cheaper anyways, so you might have some cash left over for mods. If you started over with a manual, and spend the 1.8k on mods you would be set up real nice.
