is it possible to put a Vtec head into a SOHC ZC? and if so what kind of gains will it produce?

On the SOHC ZC, yes. On the DOHC ZC, no.

The SOHC ZC is basically the same as the D16A6 except for the cam and one little port on the back of the head. The short block (everything below the head gasket) is the same as the D16A6.

You'll get the same gains as if you head swapped a D16A6.
