my whole shifter fucking broke!!!!!!

so im shifting from 1st to 2nd and the whole shifter broke from the top of the ball.......
i'm at work and i work 32miles away from home!!!!!

i went to advance parts and bought JB kwik weld....i hope this is good enough to get me home......i dont know what else to do

if it only broke on top, shift without the ball, no big deal.

dc sports? those break all the time

i dont know.....it broke on the ball thats in the shift linkage

two words. Duct Tape

autozone has thos cheap APC shifters, get one for the ride home. The other idea are going to take too long to dry and what not. all you need is a 12mm wrench and an 8mm socket to get it out.

If you can't get it, ducktape it with some toothpicks attached or something, shift real easily and try to stay in 3rd or soemthign until you get home.

the whole shifter broke from the top of the ball inside of the linkage under the car....

any recomendations on what shifter WONT break...i heard the gsr and type r are short shifters...is it true?????

i got a b&m, its pretty beefy; the stick is steel and the base is aluminum.

I snapped a DC Sports myself also.. Great build qaulity..

B&M!!! you won't break it, i promise you. i have had a B&M for almost two years and it hasn't broke, it's still as stiff as the day i got it. it the single best shifter you can get for your car, but if you do this, get the pro, it comes in the cradle with teflon bushings, and replaces the rubber mounts. good luck

Skunk2 is a nice steel shifter too. Remember you are just shifting, go easy on it man, no need to manhandle it!!

yeah thats what happened ....... i found a shop by my job that does swaps and found a stock shifter for $20....better than paying 100 for a tow....thanks for the help guys....

btw.....i'm going with a B&M...when i have $120 just laying around.......

I got a cheap one, hasn't broke yet, and this is the third car it's been on.

It was some cheap ebay one for like 10 bucks, on the CX, then the VX, now the LS swapped CX.

I've got one of those cheap APC shifters. $10 off eBay, I knew of the problems that DC Sports shifters had of breaking, so I figured why pay $40 more for a name brand aluminum shifter? I recommend a Skunk2 shifter if you want that extra piece of mind, it's the only one I know of thats made of mild steel, and there's no way that's going to break. If you don't want Skunk2, then the only other option is B&M.

same shit happened to me and my friend. it was one of those cheap shifter off ebay. definatly lmao!!! we had to jack the car up and use the linkage to put the car in 2nd and drove it home from there.
