We pulled my oil pan off today to tap it for my turbo kit and it cracked. Is it possible that the people who built the motor overtourqed it to where it cracked or was it something else. Is it possible to weld the crack, will that be strong enough or do I need another oil pan? My motor is a d16y8 will any other d-series pans work?

It was probably already cracked.

Sure, but where is the crack? on the side of the pan, or near the bolt holes?

Sure, but it might leak, might crack in a different spot again, and D series pans are so cheap, just get another.

Any D series pan will work.
