ok i swapped a b18c into my 99 civic....i got red of a/c for future turbo reasons, everything is out under the hood, my question is...is it ok to remove the a/c evap. from behind the glove box, an what are the pros and cons from doing this?

well he already has the rest of the system removed, so the only new cons would be the two holes in the firewall. he lives in a cold climate though, so freezing his ass off because the holes let in cold air is probably more relevant than the swamp ass.

thats all i did in mine and use vinyl tape for the holes colors are fun ha ha battery hides everything if you remove the cooler more stuff can get into the interior like BUGS plus the weight diff wont make a diff but if one day you decide to put it back or someone else does you wont have crap inside it. you could cut the harness just make sure to take care of the ends so there arent any sparks

Please tell me that you had the system purged before you 'got red of a/c'.

why? it's a 99, so it's got r134a, not r12. r134 is not harmful to the atmosphere, and is non-toxic unless exposed to an open flame (which unless you're smoking while purging it, or purging in a confined area like your garage, wont hurt anything.) if you have a gas powered hot water heater in your garage you could run into trouble, but the stigma with refrigerant stems from r12, not r134a.

To end with: Would you breathe r134a in? I'll even buy the tank.

you win, purging to atmosphere is illegal. and no i wouldn't breathe it. but on the same token, it's not harmful to you or the atmosphere if you go about it safely (and yes, the responsible thing to do it have it evacuated correctly.)

Having it evacuated safely and responsibly is the responsible thing to do, as well as the legal thing to do, and will give you even better chances of not getting injured.
