Default Transmission gone, or clutch system???

btw (the clutch is a stage 2 exedy)

Hey guys.. I been rackin my brain trying to figure out whats going on with my gsr tranny.

I was washing the car last friday and when i finished and went to move it I had a difficult time putting it in gear.. Had to force it really... Said Ok, its gotta be the tranny gone bad on me.

Flipped a 2000 gsr tranny in the next day and what do you know??? 2 hours or so worth of driving and its back at it again.. (GRANTED) this tranny is NOT in the best shape either, i know it has a bit of mileage, but could this be that BOTH TRANNYS are just either "gone" or garbage....or could this be something in the clutch system?

My help noted that the clutch had plenty of meat left, and the tranny fluid is not low either.. Also, again..... This was sudden and not a slow increasingly pain in the ass problem..

Thanks for any help. Im about to go onto my third tranny tomorrow so any help before swapping it in is appreciated.

-Dave

Did you take a look at the springs that are on the clutch disc? I have had the problem of it going into gears rough and it turned out to be that one of the springs in the disc was popping out.

Im gonna have to ask him.. i left when the clutch was swapped over so he seen this... that does make sense though.. Goodlooking out....

any more probablities before we rip it all apart..? I question my own sense of knowledge since i converted from it being an auto only 8 months ago...

edit:

and by the way.. i dont know if this helps much but for whatever reason the car will work fine on a cold start, but after about 5 mins or so of shifting once the car is being driven it will get tougher, and tougher to get in gear...

Thats why i thought it could be clutch because it depends on pressure.. But we did bleed the clutch, change the master cylinder (4 months ago) AND swap out the slave cylinder.. Doesnt make sense to me..

well you were pretty much on the money. The flywheel was worn out and totally uneven along with the clutch... Pressure plate was all bad too.

Basiclly i ended up replacing the clutch and flywheel, pressure plate, along with the tranny...

$1450 (clutch etc includded in price) with a 6 month warranty on the tranny.. My boy didnt charge me labor. Yeah i spent alot but the feel of the car is fawkin brand new..And i know I did a good thing by doing it the right way this time..

thanks for the help though..saved me a huge headache! My bill gave me another one though.

I never had a fly wheel get missed up but I can see how that can happen too. I always just replaced the clutch and pressure plate since those springs when they start to pop out rub the pressure plate it. However, glad I was of some help and good luck with the new clutch setup.

Make sure there is no air in the clutch lines, and plenty of fluid. Also, check to see if the clutch is adjusted properly, with the correct amount of free play. I believe the pedal should move 3/4 of an inch before it hits resistance. If you get more than that, you aren't disengaging the clutch all the way, and that could cause the symptoms you are experiencing.

I hope that makes sence. I'm drunk as hell at the moment.
