yeah and thats the most dangerous thing you can do to a differential . Spider gears are not meant to be heated up like that . buddy did his s10. Didnt last 1 month before the rear broke . I am thinking about trying it out on my spare f series . It doesnt have 5th or reverse . But all the work on swapping it out jst seems pointless. theres no way that this would last any longer than welding the gears on a rear wheel drive .

Yeah well who in the hell thinks of doing this shit , Some rednecks sitting on there porch drinking moon shine. Looking at a broken down piece of shit honda . Talking about how dem jap-pen-nese cars aint worth a fly on horse shit . Then one of em . Well lets give it possy-trac. And the shit fest begins

yeah hardened steel is not meant to be heated up, and is very difficult to weld... im interested to see how long it lasts

but damn that whip must gots some crazy snap off the line yo

no more than a quiafe LSD . And I think if your going to launch it off the line . The shit will just break right there All that work to rev the car up and go no where. Maybe you can use jbweld to lock the spider gears together. Seems like its holding the cover plate in . Damn rednecks , haha

dont really know about that, my friend has a welded diff on a 400+ rwd car (240 with fully built KAT), he drifts and is sponsored by dunlop. lets say this diff lasted him more than the 5 KATs hes gone tru. but then again, he can swap them with the quickness.

I am all for the low budget performance , But some things I believe in paying for the right parts. If your riding on a welded diff. and everything is great . HATS OFF TO YA . Just wont do it my ride. I ll pay for the diff. I have a spare transmission that I was just going to play around with , I ll let you know how it turns out , Got any tips for welding a front wheel drive.

another thing , this type of process. It seems to be that you will lose all handling capabilities. Please correct me on thiss one .

just so you know, if you weld your diff, i wouldnt recommend you to drive it on the streets. Its just not going to happen.

haha. I just saw that Demolition Derby Car thread in HT:bo:

not necessarily, it depends on your tires. if you have sticky as hell tires you are gonna hop every time you make a turn, if you have regular tires, then you'll be fine.

If properly done, a welded diff is a good mod for somebody who used their car for either drag racing or drifting, and does not daily drive it.

A properly welded diff will be rock solid.

BTW, i was watching the speed channel last weekend, it was a PINK's special where they were filming drag races at a local track somewhere.

Some moron blew the final drive right out of his chevy blazer while doing a burnout . . .i can only attribute that to shady workmanship like what was done in the main post here lol.
