I decided to hurt myself several times today.

Pretty much nothing was on the schedule for work today, but we had to finish up a prewire we started yesterday. Sounded like an easy day. Just running wire, right?

Well today was the first day I ever made a mistake walking the open rafters. I grabbed 3 wires to be ran to a location from the phone room, and tried to take a wide step to another rafter when i realized it was further away than I thought it was.

At that point I had both hands holding an angled roof rafter as I lost my footing and swung down nailing my shin just below my knee on a door frame. Surprisingly, it only stung for a bit and scraped some skin but no bruising.

I didn't fall, but I scared myself enough to slow down a little. I've never done that before in the past two years I've been doing prewires and finished attic runs, and I don't ever plan to fall.

But wait, it gets better.

After that we were pretty much done and went back to the office. I was told to clean out the backroom which includes taking the two old WIN 100D phone systems (50 pound metal boxes with cards in them) to the basement.

Alright, fine, I'll do it so you'll (Jeremy) shut the fuck up about it. So I load up my arms and take the first system down just fine. Put it on the floor and head back upstairs.

Now before I go any further, I have to say that I'm 6' and the ceiling to this 1910s building is about 5'10, the steps are crap, and I'm already sore from running 60 wire runs yesterday.

I grabbed the second system and started heading for the basement, and as I say "i'm about to throw this fucker in the street", I start heading down the stairs, ducking and bending my back. Just then I missed the last step and came down on my right ankle which twisted to the left.

As I fell, I completely let go of the phone system and kind of pushed it away from me so it didn't topple on top of me and took the fall with no hands. My mom (who runs our coffee shop) heard me and apparently asked if i was ok, I didn't hear her as I was writhing in pain.

So now my right ankle fucking hurts. In addition to my usual annoying left ankle pain.

What a way to start the weekend, right?

It just took me 5 minutes to go downstairs, flip a light switch and come back upstairs.

Next time, tell Jeremy to go fuck himself, ftw!

Man I feel ya. I hate rolling my ankle at work. ruins the day completely.

I usually wear boots to prevent it, but lately i've been wearing shoes, and the other day i slipped walking off the foundation and fell flat on my face holding two buckets of pit run(100lbs each easy). thought i broke my jaw on one of the buckets cuz i hit so hard.
