Are the tail lights interchangeable between years of civics and/or crxs? I have an 89 hatch with a cracked tail light. The junk yard has a 90 tail light. They say it won't fit. I'm skeptical. Can you crank a sedan tail light or crx tail light into the hole?

Any of the same generation, same model should fit, but make sure it's from the same body style (hatch, coupe, sedan) because many differed between styles.

They should. That's not the generation I'm familiar with, but I'm pretty sure.

physically theyre the same but the outside look is different.the tail lights have to from a hatch, not a crx and not a sedan. the 90-91 lights have another brake light hole rather than just 1 in the 88-89 lights.

No!

They're different; different shape and bolt pattern. I know this because I physically tried.

they already posted to keep your body style the same. i have 90 rex tails on my 89 rex too, but that doesn't apply to what he said. if you have a hatch, 88-91 lights will work. if you've got a rex, 88-91 will work. sedans i'm not sure about, but you have a hatch, so you shouldn't care about them anyway.

well i was able to find an 89 tail light, the junkyard still swears only 88-89 and 90-91 will fit those models. I guess I'll know for future reference.

thanks all

I've seen plenty notes saying you can't interchange the different years on a CRX, but I've been back and forth between the two sets a couple times.
I'm sure you can't change between body styles, but I don't think the year difference should stop you.
