Hey...I am new here but a devoted Si owner. I have approx. 150k on my car and it is time to decide to either do major work or trade/sell it. My question is I heard that they were going to stop making VTEC DOHC engines and my only other option was an imported short-life motor with about a 30k guarantee. - Is this true?
I want to get it fixed. It is worth fixing! BUT I can not seem to find a place I trust with my "baby" here in the south east. The Honda dealership here is NOT an option (trust my BBB complaint and settlement!) I am thinking it needs a valve job at the very least. Can a VTEC be rebuilt? Suggestions?
I came back to add a few of the problems I am having... car is shaking a bit once I hit 80 mph, clutch is fine but at times the engine hesitates almost like it is having problems getting air, thinking it is the cat. converter (not air filter) also it is starting to use a bit more oil than before, a little smoke rarely. It still gets awesome gas mileage and can kick it when I drive anywhere...it just needs some major TLC to last another 10 years!
