hey guys. im new here, and new to hondas. i just bought an 88 CRX. it already has a fair amount of stuff done like suspension, body kit ( but needs painted ), wheels, tires, and the front clip off an integra with the bigger brakes. but the drivetrain is bone stock. ive done alot of research and it gets confusing. what some people consider an easy swap, others say its a no-no. my goals are just @ 300hp at the flywheel for now. and id like to have a turbo. whats the easiest engine swap that would get me to my goal ? the car will always be a daily driver. another problem is mines and automatic and i want it swapped to a manual. i cant fine much info on transmission swaps. will i have to use a transmission for whatever series engine i get, like will a B series transmission work on a D series engine, etc..... ? thanks for any help guys

A "built" turbo D-series can hit 300chp easily. Homemade setups are good for around 200whp. What trim is the CRX?

If you buy or make an adapter kit, yeah you can use a B-series transmission on a D. Getting a D-series transmission would be much easier.

it doesnt have a ex or anything like that on it, but its the base model. lowest they made that year. ive been looking into swapping in a B18C with the automatic. would be alot easier swap if i keep it automatic. would have alot of potential with that engine also

I think keeping it automatic might be harder. More wiring to deal with and issues with the mount.

Also, the automatic transmissions suck(especially in the D's and B's). If you're going to do automatic anything on there, I'd say F22 or H22 swap with automatic transmission. I know there's plenty of them that race with the Autos and haven't heard of anything going wrong.

Adapter kit? I would love to see how an adapter kit will make a b-series transaxle mate and function on a D-series engine.

I believe someone already did it(Bisi's also working on that kit) and they already exist for F/H engine on D-series transmission(Bisi's F2D kit) and F/H series on B series transmission(The H2B kit; Bisi and another company makes them).

i have a 88 crx and im looking to swap a ls into it with a jdm b16 tranny shorter gear if you plan on swaping the motor to b series and ur doing turbo ls tranny will be good for the longer gears (b16 transmission equals short gears)

there are 2 guys on turbod16.com running custom plates that allow them to run B series trannys on a d, bisi makes a plate that lets you run a f motor on a d tranny if i recall. not a d to b plate. to the op i would suggest you swap in a d16z6 and its 5 speed from a 93to 95 civic, get the pedals from a stick CRX. the mounts and wire harness can all also be bought or made. the d16z6 can make around 220 to the wheels boosted with stock pistons and rods, replace them and you can go to 400 to the wheels before you need to start worrying about other parts.

Yes, he does, or at least was/is working on a D to B adapter kit. He said something about it on either D-series.org or HT.

yeah he mentioned he was working on one, but as of the last time i spoke to bisi it was still in the works. course i havnt spoke to him in over a month.

a D16Z6 can make 400hp at the wheels with a built bottom end and boost ? i wouldnt have to worry about buying different motor or transmission mounts for that swap would i ?
