wanna put some more power down with my jdm gsr w/lsd so i'm trying to do a budget build; already have password jdm intake, hytech header, top fuel exhaust, and hondata s300.
I want to shotpeen rods, and throw on some .25 oversived p30 pistons, bore TB. my question is on the head I want to run pro 1 cams, do I have to run aftermarket valvesprings or can I get away w/ portflow inners? btw, running stock retainers/valves. would I be able to make 200whp on stock gsr cams?

You won't come anywhere close to an all-motor 200whp with stock GSR cams.

not true...
i had my base b18c dynoed at 180.7 whp (dyno'd 2 times with 180) all i had was S2 Pro intake manifold, password carbon intake, apexi ws2 exhaust, street tuned p-28.

but now, ive added a walhbro 255, rage headers, nology plug wires and ngk iridium plugs, new 2.5" test pipe, gate's racing thermostat, 2" radiator, gate's racing hoses, Civic Type R intake cam, Civic Type R N1 crank pulley, A/C delete... that should be over 200whp i would think :D

ill have it dynoed again soon here, after i do a full p-n-p and head work including Skunk2 internals and pro1+ cams.

but i would rethink the 200whp not possible statement.

even without my CTR cam.. i think i'd be over 200.

Not on the stock bottom end. :)

Also, the rage header will be helpful, but not its designed potential due to the minimal flow in the stock port head.

thats why im having the S2 head internals put in, possibly the pro1+ cam (keep it streetable)

im getting the dished valves 'cause im planing on boosting in the next month or 2.
i was told that my bottom end should hold up to what im throwing at it. i forgot what turbo they said they were gonna use.. but, it will put me over 300 WHP (same setup as the shop owners car TO THE TEE. its funny.

but, i am a little worried about my bottom end because 300 (with 10-12 psi) on a stock block is harsh. im gonna do arp studs, thicker head gasket, dished valves, and have bowl work done when they do the p-n-p. im really hoping this holds.

if not, block guard and cp pistons and eagle rods i guess...

hey is it worth buying the supertech black nitride valves, springs and retainers, and viton seals? or is S2 the only way to go?

To the OP, sorry if it seems i thread jacked.. just good ongoing topic. but IMO, 200 WHP is doable without internals. ...just lots of boltons and tuning

Not at all. The skunk2 components will work just fine, though I am not a fan of S2 valvetrain components. I prefer Ferrea.

It is not in any way possible for you to reach 200whp with bolt-ons and tuning. What are you going to tune on the stock engine? Bolt-ons do not gain power, they affect performance.

No. You did not pick up 30whp with basic i/h/e. You picked up 10bhp.

so um.. your saying that my picture i took with my camera of when they printed out the dyno sheet of my motor when it first got swapped in is fake?
i can give you Intec's number and you can call and ask Lawrence (who dyno tuned it or Mike who did the install.

these guys have had numerous cover shots of cars they do. what more proof you want? i took a pic of my dyno sheet FFS lol. dont tell me what is sittin in my driveways is false.. ill take pics of the motor right now if you want.

dont kid yourself man

sooo.. your saying that a JDM B18c that baseline dynos at 156 whp STOCK..

is impossible to make 24 whp more with sk2 intake manifold, apexi ws2 exhaust, password jdm intake and thats it? LMAO.. man you guys should call these guys and ask them.. i just had it dynoed about 2 months ago and they know me pretty well down there.

look up intecracing.com

but i guess all you know it all honda freaks are just too stuck on the impossible.
im holding my fucking dyno sheet in my hand For fuck sake LOL!!

No. You did not pick up 30whp with basic i/h/e. You picked up 10bhp.

btw, they weren't "BASIC"

rage header, password carbon intake, and apexi exhaust w/ a tuned p-28 is not "basic.. that was a lot of money and time on the dyno

The JDM gsr engine is nothing more than a usdm gsr with slightly more compression. If you put an IM/TB, intake and header on it and a chipped ecu, thats not going to make 180whp. All those parts you put on it are designed in conjunction with their partnering components. Camshafts for example. I would like to see your dyno graph. Not many people know what to look for, luckily I do. I still call BS. Lets see the graph.

Dude, the graph is in my sig..

Stock ITR engine graph....

So your saying your making more power than an itr engine, with bolt-ons and tuning? Stop joking yourself here.

well in that case, id love to take on any stock ITR right now.. money was well spent :D i did stand kill a RSX type s the other day and stood next to my best friends S2k :D he went and invested in a greddy turbo kit LOL.. he was that pissed.. either way.. i know what mine dyno'd.. im haveing another shop do the rest of my fab work. dont know if anyone knows any other shops in my area that are reputable, but im checking out called Speed Factory (Speedfactory.net).. they have a 10 second d16 i was checkin out today. they HELLA liked my car and whats been done.

its cool if you hate on me for what i have to show.. thats all this forum is anyways is haters. im not trying to bash anyone, just saying i know what i got and what my car dyno'd and you all are trying to beat me down..if you dont like my posts or disbelieve them, come up here, check my car out, and put it on a dyno. im not trying to bullshit no one. just standing up for what i KNOW i have.

its like beating a dead horse with a stick.. im going to bed.

All I am trying to say here, is that THAT dyno graph is not YOURS.

Dude, it says "Max Power", not "WHP" or "Wheel Horse Power". That's your flywheel horsepower, not what you make at the wheels. Your stock USDM B18C1 was 170bhp. Your dyno chart measured your actual wheel torque and made the equation to flywheel torque, then did the equation to find horsepower from that. Yes, it is impossible to pick up that much power on any B-Series engine with basic i/h/e and an intake manifold. Learn anything about engine building theory. I/H/E are supporting mods that help the engine breathe more freely for internal engine mods. Picking up 30whp would require at least upgraded cams to a "stage two" or higher profile.

so... now your saying that intec pulled my motor out of my car took it somewhere else and had it dyno'd??? DUDE i watched them dyno it on a Dyno-jet. they printed it out RIGHT THERE and handed it to me, they were even shocked the number it put down.....

last post for me tonight.. go ahead and make further accusations if you like. once i get this thing redynoed by speedworks, which uses dynajet packs or what ever you call them.. the ones that attach to the hubs, then ill post the pic of that dyno.
