ok i took my car to get an oil change at merlins. i usually do it myself but i wanted my front end lubricated. well long story short they blame my header and intake on my driving skills and thats why the car is jacked up now. loud knocking either rod or bearing.

so i need a motor to put into my car for less than 1000 total shipped. i just dont know what to get. i have a y8 head so i could get a new bottom end. but what would be better?

a d15b, y8 or mini me? i need help quick. and whatever motor needs to either come with a trans or be able to work with my y7 trans.

please dont tell me to search because frankly i dont have the time to because my car is getting towed to the shop monday and i cant deal with the drama:(

Another D-series engine is the only thing that will bolt up to that transmission. Just to make things easy you should keep it OBD2 (96-00 engines).

I don't quite understand what you're saying they said about your header and intake.

Also, in the time it took you to type this out and for someone to reply to it, you probably could have figured this out through a Google search...

they said ive been driving my car hard, and thats what the rod knock/bearing failure was from...due to me having an intake/header lol

and i did search, thats why im down to these 3 motors. i just wasnt sure if the d15b would bolt up. and how do u find the ecu for that motor

There's an ECU list in the reference section. Like I said though, if you want to make the swap as easy as possible, then look for another engine from a 96-98 Civic. That way it will drop right in, bolt-up, and plug in, no wiring changes necessary. If you buy an older D15 then you're going to need to address the OBD issues somehow...

a mile from my house they sell d16y7 with low mileage for 400. just block and head w intake. we just used one for a mini me. great deal

well if you want to keep your tranny then dont put in a mini me cuz i believe that's a b16 block in which you'll need to swap out the tranny too but if it's a knocking sound then take apart your engine.it doesn't take long, but yea you're right if it's knocking it's the bottom of your engine so take it apart and inspect your bearings and rods most likely it'll be your bearings not getting enough oil in between them and there's not enough space but just in case don't forget to measure it then you'll know for sure

Once again, you're a fucking idiot. A Mini-Me is a D-series engine.
