Width Vs Weight

So looking at tires/wheels combos, i was wondering what you would rather have, less wheel weight? or greater tire width? for example: would your rather have 15 inch tires with a weight of 9.5 pounds and a tire width of 195 or the 16 inch tires with a weight of 13.5 with a tire width 205? Is the unsprung weight or more rubber on the road more important?

I also suppose there is other factors that come along such as the size of the sidewall, etc.

What's the width of the rims? 195 vs. 205 is not a huge difference unless you're talking section with on a certain rim width. I plan on running 195 wide tires on my Miata rims, which are 6" wide.

It's also a rip-off; something like $40 to do it(at least around here). Not worth it unless you pretty much have a race car or are racing.

The advantage of nitrogen is not weight; it's pressure consistency through different temperatures.

the width of the rims are 7", on both the 15 and 16s. specifically im looking at enkei rpf1's. Im asking both for the reasons of which will be better for my crx's performance and price, lol.

Its just my daily driver so its not like it will be all important for racing, but just trying to get the most performance i can. Id like more grip, but the less weight will be better for my dohc zc(plus the lesser price of the 15's is always nice, but if its worth the extra rubber, id pay the little bit extra for the 16's)

I've run 195s and 205s on my 15x5.5 Si rims, and I can't tell any difference between the two setups.

If they're both 7" wide, go for the 15" but run wider tires; and try to get 205-wide tires for them :)

IIRC most manufacturers make performance tires for 15" wheels in 205-widths anyways.

On the same wheel size, go with the widest you can get that still stands the sidewalls straight up and still gives you the best match to your correct tire diameter. On a 7" wide wheel for a CRX, I'd run 205/50/15 or maybe 225/45/15 if you can find them and fit them in. ;)

I like these for your 225/45/15 if you can afford them... and if you can run a 7.5 or 8 inch wide wheel. Trust me, there are ways to make them fit. :D

i would love to fit those wheels on there. only problem is being a broke college kid puts a cramp on stuff, lol. but later, will have to hunt me down a nice clean crx and make it happen, for the good of everybody. ^_^

thanks for your help guys
