Yeah when it comes to actual hours worked per year, Americans have averaged more than Europeans for many years now. It's ridiculous how much time off workers get in some of those countries, Sweden especially. Ford execs in the US have found themselves at odds with the Volvo folks in Sweden because their productivity is far lower than that of the production facilities here. It's a cultural thing. A lot of Europeans just don't put in as many work hours as we do.

I think the idea of Americans as lazy comes more from the over-abundance of obese people here as opposed to our actual work ethic...

Before I moved out here, I was working three jobs. Never had a day off, and if I needed to stay later or pick up more hours, I would do it--Perhaps I am a glutton for punishment, or perhaps I just don't know how to say no. Clayton always used to tell me that I was going to get sick or die over my work habits. Since I moved out here, I work longer hours, but less days. 4 on, 3 off, but it's usually 14-18 hours a day.

In 2005 I worked 85 hours a week. 7 days a week through three different jobs. Now I'm down to 40 hours and making more money.

People who want respect for working more hours are idiots. Work smarter, not harder.

And a lot of us Americans are fat because we eat too much of the wrong shit all the time, and at the wrong times, too often.

To me it's just rediculous that you can drive up to a drive thru and sit on your ass the whole time and order a huge, greasy, calorie filled burger with a huge box of fries (a meal in itself) and a gigantic sugary soda that can be bought for as little as 4 dollars on a value meal. That shit's toxic as hell, all processed and preserved and fried it's just fattening garbage with no nutritional value whatsoever. I haven't had fast food for almost a year now I'm disgusted by it, don't know how some people can eat it every day, and some 3 times a day.

And when I was 16 during the summer last year I was working 75-80 hours a week (12 hours daily, with no break or food) at a Chinese restaurant. NEVER again would I do that, but that's how I saved up for my first car by myself.

The only thing I like about 50 is the amount of property tax he pays on his mansion in my town (Mike tysons old mansion) making my taxes a little bit cheaper.

I currently work 0 hours a week.

My recent foray into heating and air conditioning installation brought on the realization that those who work on climate control systems do not work in a controlled climate. Actually, I've had the luck of drawing job after job working in the attics of places that are 150+ degrees, lifting 300 pound air handlers and carrying them through attics, many times balancing on 2x4s.

Yeah, that sucked. So no workie for this american. Next job I'm apping for is a shuttle runner for the rail road. Should be decent money. I think. No labor ftw.
