It was filmed in front of my building at Yale. I never once saw .. well, I did see Harrison Ford from a long way away on a motorcycle.

i'll see it. it was originally supposed to have tony jaa in it. that would have been cool.

Yeah, I think it looks pretty exciting, I'll definitely see it.

Harrison Ford does look hella old though, lol...

Yep, that's right bitches, I'm bringing it back from the dead! :fuckyou:

Has anyone seen this? I thought that it sucked ass honestly. I was very disappointed... :disgust1:

haha! You're such a rebel! :lmao: I thought it was a no0b that brought it back. Anywho, I have heard mixed reviews about it. Personally I still want to see it. Which of the three original were yours or anyone else's favorites for that matter?

Ugh! I just tried to rep you for having a pair, being a defiant bastard, and bringing the thread back from the dead...but I must have given you rep not too long ago 'cause I can't. STUPID NOT BEING ABLE TO REP PEOPLE AGAIN CRAP! *kicks dirt on rep feature*

I saw it and it was alright. Not even close to being as good as the original three by any means, but what sequals ever live up to the original? So I wasn't expecting much but it was entertaining nonetheless.

I thought the ending was really cheesy.

I thought a LOT of parts of it were really cheesy...

For instance, the scene where the kid was swinging on vines through the forest with an army of monkeys. I was like "WTF?!? This is retarded!" Also, you've got the scene where he survives the nuclear explosion by hiding in the fridge? Seriously? Even if he did manage to survive the blast it's not like he'd survive being thrown a mile away inside a refrigerator. To me it just seemed like an excuse for Spielberg to recreate a set from E.T....

I don't remember the old ones being super cheesy and having stupid scenes like that. All the action and fight scenes in the previous movies were more realistic; the only fantasy parts were the artifacts themselves. Watching this one didn't even feel like an Indy movie to me; it could have just as easily been any number of sub-par action/adventure flicks released in the past ten years or so (i.e. the Mummy movies, etc.)...

Oh, and weren't Spielberg and Lucas making a big deal about how they weren't going to use much CGI for this film and rely more on traditional stunt work to make it feel more like the old ones? Well they failed big time there. It looked like a typical CGI fest to me. I guess when George Lucas says "we're not going to use much CGI" he means "not as much CGI as my last Star Wars bomb, but still a helluva lot."

And honestly the whole thing felt pretty contrived. I felt like I was watching "Steven Spielberg's Greatest Hits" rather than a new Indiana Jones story. They threw in a little bit of everything (E.T., Close Encounters, recycled stuff from all the other Indy movies, etc.). There were a few decent moments that made me think of the old movies (the motorcycle chase for instance, that was classic Indy and well done), but overall, it just felt overblown and forced.

EDIT: **SPOILERS IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH! DON'T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE!**

And then you've got the alien angle. Honestly, I don't really feel like I can complain about this with some of the stuff they've done in the other movies (the ark of the covenant melting people's faces off, the dude that magically pulls people's hearts out of their chests, the thousand-year-old knight guarding the grail, etc.) but still, I just wish they hadn't taken that angle. Haven't Spielberg and Lucas done enough with aliens???

The crappy story and cheesy scenes and dialogue has Lucas's greasy hands all over it. Shit, they should have just given Jar Jar Binks a cameo...maybe have him swinging on vines in the woods with Shia Lebouf... :disgust1:

if you think about it, the first 3 were pretty cheesey too. 1980's graphics... WOW!
i think we're just so spoiled on the latest and greatest cgi, that we take for granted the real action of the scene

this is part of the reason i like tony jaa movies. it's real action.

at least with stuff like "fearless and hero" you expect cheesy action. well, thats what puts it in that genre.

Right, I agree. Overall though, I think the first three were more smartly written. The cheesiness and humor were more clever. This new one though has some moments that are just downright dumb (my previous example of Shia Lebouf literally swinging through the forest on vines like Tarzan with an army of monkeys behind him is probably one of the most glaring examples).

To me it stunk of George Lucas and the dumbing down of the Star Wars Prequels. Seriously, they need to just keep pens, paper, and word processors away from that guy from this point on..."No George, no, you don't get to write anymore stories George...you had your chance and you messed it up...no, put that pencil down..."

Like I said though, there are a few "classic Indy moments" so it's not a total waste. Definitely the weakest of the series though...
