how u doing fellas..
i just did ls/vtec on my 99 ls teggy.. and put header and manifold on it
im loving it so far i can feel the increase of "power" ;) and vtec...
neways, let me get to the point!
i want to make this car my daily driven beauty and while im at it i want to have fun driving it... and of course im not going to turbo it.. (i believe that hondas r made for NA!)
what can i do to make it faster but doesnt cross that line of "weekend car"
can you guys make a list of things that i need to do ?
thx alot!

Well for starters, theres a fine line between fun and work, which side do you want to be on.That being said, you should make a choice of what kind of funds you plan to spend.I personally like to play with NOS,bang for the buck, you can't go wrong if installed correctly and not abused. My current builds have been LS/vtec (1 B20,2B18a)and as fast as i put them up for sale they go fast around here, forged pistons and stock everywhere else love to be sprayed.Let me know what you think and if any of this helps.

Well, I wasnt going to spend $2000 at once.. i cant do that not with the job that i have right now neways. I can spend 300~400 here and there.
i was thinking more towards like camshafts and camgears and etc etc

geez i hate the word NOS! makes me want to shoot myself in the face.

if you want to have a fun NA car you'll need
P&P
sick cams
85mm sleeves
12:+ CR
sick header
custom IM or one perfectly matched to engine combo
+
with all that said youll be 5+ grand in the hole for no more than 250hp if that.

a small FI set up will yield better results with less cash with a stock engine

thx and you mentioned
good cams..
i understand that cams need to be good in order to go "faster" but im in a dilema because i kno any brand stage 2 cams r good for speeding and such but is it suited for daily driving?
i was thinking more towards stage 1 camshafts.. but i dont know if its going to be just waste of money and time.. and also for cam gears.. is it worth buying one of those "adjustable" cam gears? thx alot dude

stock for stock what kind of power will the B20 bottom end make compared to the stock B16 bottom end ,both using the B16 pr3-3 head

You'd be better off spending your money on a turbo setup. Say a bolt on Greddy kit for 1500-2000$. Reliable, bolt on street fun. Not only that, but you will save money. N/A is NOT cheap.

And its nitrous, NOS is a brand of nitrous.

:werd: Don't waste money going the n/a route.

that shit aint called nitrous that shit is called nawwzzzz. lol

and if your gonna do turbo, piece together your own kit, it will be cheaper then a drag or greddy kit

I've heard that there's a company called jackson racing that makes reliable supercharging kits for honda's and that they are perfect for DD. I really wouldn't know anything else about that tho:rolleyes:

This is for someone who doesn't appear to know a Honda inside and out. You really need to know your car well and MUST be VERY comfortable with some decent fabrication work if you wish to piece together a turbo kit.

Buying the already pieced together kit is worth it for someone who is new at this.

Or better yet, the JRSC as mentioned above ;) even simpler install judging by sidude's thread.

A JRSC will only give you like 25HP, or 25%. Not worth it. I saw a d16y7 with a JSRC bolted on only make 140HP. It's not worth supercharging. Sure it's easy to tune, easy to install, but it's not worth the money.

Well, we are looking at ease of install and daily driveability here.

Turbocharging is more difficult, can be more expensive, and it must be done very well to be reliable. I'm trying to give him an idea of something thats easy to add, and wont require extensive modifications.

awptickles, he's not necessarily looking for the most power in the world as stated already. If he wanted more he could always get a different sized pulley.
