ok hers the deal i have a 1990 teg with b20 vtec and i have the chance to get a1990 crx for 400 and the only thing wrong with it is a small dent in rear quarter pannel should i get it and swap my motor or just leave it be:confused:
 
put and cheap B16 in the teg and put the b20 in the crx. Or if you want the comfort then keep the teg as is and slowly build something special for the crx.
 
i want to but iv had my teg so long its just hard let my teg sit until i get another motor.
 
thats what i was thinkin but zc crx told me he would sell that h2b kit to put that h22 in the crx so i might just do that
 
i have a hard time believing that is the only thing wrong with a 18 year old car. keep the teg as is. dont need a heavy engine in a light weight car. turbo sohc 1.6, or b18b at the most.

How do you figure that a B20 is a "heavy engine"? It's just a non-VTEC B18 with a larger bore. If you're recommending a B18 then there's no reason not to recommend a B20...

And I'm thinking this topic should probably be moved somewhere else besides the lounge?

I like this idea but modify it. Integra with a B16 block and B20 head (reverse LSV basically) and a CRVTEC in the CRX. That would leave you with a daily and a fucking monster.

On a side note, I've always wanted to try the reverse LSV. We talked about it on here awhile ago and I believe nicknamed it the Bastard B.

Why the hell would you that? The B20 head flows like shit and now you want to DEcrease the displacement to rev it up higher......which is bad news for a shitty non flowing head that was never designed to go above 7k.

Too much work for having bad results if you ask me.
 
If you have a teg then you do not want a crx as your daily driver . It gets old after a while. especially if it needs some work. Since you have a daily driver then build somethin for the rex. I recommended an already assembled so you could just worry about the wiring and stuff. If you want something special then go get an ls block and build a Lsvtec. You could build one for cheap with stock oem parts and get awesome results such as high 13's
 
Its the whole Building process thats makes a project take a little longer. A gsr would be nice in there. I really wasnt impressed with a b16 or a b20 once i got rid of my LSV. Both of my lsv's, one fully built and the other was put together back in the day with stock parts before the whole honda craze took off in full force

isn't the B20 head almost identical to the B18A/B18B?

Regardless if that was done it would be like an expensive beefy DOHC ZC

I know the valve covers are interchangeable. But still why would you do that? Your wasting the potential of the small displacement? How much would the zc put down anyway, 130 ish? It would be an embarrassment to have a b16 stamp that put out lower than the factory.

No torque and no top bottom end? :confused: Just keep the B20 in there.

The point of it was to have the CRX with a CRVTEC and have the Integra be a function daily driver with limited parts purchased and very little money spent. Integras can be powered by a D-series, why not a motor that will perform identical to one. Will it be fast? Absolutely not. But you would be using left over parts to make a functional motor and a car capable of being a daily driver.
 
OK i get the point. But you did keep in mind that the deck height of the b16 is different from the B18 block.

wait a minute. he already has the b20vtec in the teg remember? I suggested to put the crx on hold for something special if he doesnt want to mess with the teg. EVEN THOUGH the b20vtec would be abeast in the crx.

B20vtec in the crx
LS in the teg. That way you still have the desplacement if you ever want to build a LSV put something bigger. Or you can afford to put a b16 or whatever because you spend next to nothing on that Ls.

i dont fucking know. What did you decide?
 
Well I bet the reverse LSV would probably get pretty good gas mileage, sure it would be slow but it would be ok as a DD, while he built something decent for the other car.
 
And it would be the most economical, since he could build two motors out of two motor, one for speed and one for gas mileage, best of both worlds. Who cares what the block is stamped, if it's meant for DD, no one is gonna be lookin under the hood of it. ;)
