I've got an Alpine system all the way around, and expect to be pushing close to 1400-1500 watts continuous out of my system. 1000 to the subs, about 400 for the mids and highs. I was wondering what recommendations would be recommended for the charging system. I'm also ordering a 1 or 2 farad cap for the system. My thought would be to get my alternator rebuilt for about 130-150 amps. Also if I do upgrade, would there be any good upgrades on batteries that fit in the stock location? I'm trying to keep away from the relocation of the battery. The last thing is if I upgrade the alternator, I was told about upgrading the wire from it to the battery? Does the charging wire go from the battery to the alternator or from the alternator to the starter then the battery? Thanks in advance. -Gary

Dont worry about the starter. You'd wire from the alt to the batt.

F the cap. They will not provide any amount of power that is acceptable.

Honestly I would either try to upgrade your battery under the hood, or add a battery in the trunk/back. 1500W is not really into "needing" an alt upgrade.

agreed. An Optima yellow top would do, or you can go to a local stereo shop. They have batteries that you can add. Batcap is a good brand so see if they have anything to offer for your needs.

Thanks for the responces, Are there any better batteries that fit in the stock location, because i'd prefer not to relocate that battery at all because I still use this as my DD till I finish paying the bills, and get my truck running good. The wire for the charge off the alt. where does it go to, because all I have is 2 wires off my positive lead, 1 for the distro block and one down towards the starter? I'm asking ahead of time because I no longer can be under a car for a long time and do not have access to a lift at this point? What is the amp rating on our alternators also? My thought about upgrading is due to it being continuous and the amp I using requires at minimum 60 amp fuse how ever if I am running the other one they recommended a 25amp fuse. Thanks again -Gary

Please don't just slap a battery in the back and hook it up and think your beats are going to be better. It won't, it actually will cause more strain on the system. You will need to isolate the other battery.

I'm not sure what the F this means - but the isolation thing is a bit overblown.

I think the guy meant that some people will just run wires to their trunks and literally throw the battery in there without doing anything else. I have seen it done and it almost made me cry...with laughter...directly at the idiot that did it. He said it was fine...until a week later his system blew quite a few fuses. Why? The battery turned on its side and touched the bare trunk. haha

Does anyone know of any good sealed batteries that fit in place of the actual OEM battery? I'm not just jumping in and dump second battery without 1 seeing about a better battery for the factory location and 2 without further research on adding it. No worries there.

Go for an Optima Yellow Top if you are going to be running a system as well or a red top if you want more cranking power. Either will work very well.

Will it fit in the stock location, do remember the civic's don't have the normal size battery, its more like a over sized motorcycle battery ;)
