I swear, taking the pedals out my Honda is just about the damndest thing i've ever done...me trying to squeeze my 250lb ass back in there to disconnect all that shit is a lot harder than it sounds... I've given up on it for a few more days now...might start back in on it Saturday or something...ugh I hate small cars sometimes.

FWIW: clutch pedal broke, have to replace the whole assembly.

From Jerm, to the Civic: I hate you

LOL Bad times. I've definitely pulled honda pedals before, but I'm a lot smaller than you.

My buddy used to work at U-Fix-It honda as a parts puller. Well he's 6'5" easy and 250. He hated his job.

Yeeeeeep, i'm 6'4" - 250ish, lol... I was hating life earlier...and now, my back hates me.

It might have been easier to just plasma cut out the whole firewall section then attach the new pedals and weld the section back in...eeek!

yes yes he did :) mechanics wire FTW. later on he welded it.

my first CRX suffered this fate. clayton welded that as well.

Buck up little buddy !

More like big buddy, lol....my body hates that car now...ugh.

I thought about just having it welded, but I got a newer assembly for $20, the pedals and all the metal look great, so they should last another couple years at least I hope. After that if it breaks again, i'll either get some machined or have them taken apart and welded uber good. ;)

I have to yank mine out again, I welded it up some but still need to pull it weld the back side :( I feel your pain buddy.

they broke

i was not aware of this being a common honda problem
learn something everyday

I don't think its something that happens to every single car, but for those of us whose pedals are very hard to push down, such as mine, it really stresses the welds evidently and they end up breaking in the exact same spot every time, at least on the 88-91's.

when you toss in a heavy duty clutch...and still run cable, the weakest point snaps.

87 CRX the weakest point was the pedel.

ahhh I remember that day like yesterday...

made a run, lost all control, had to push the car to the pits, found the snapped pedal assy, took it out, drilled holes stratigically and threaded 0.035 wire double twisted and slapped them back in. Missed one run, and still got second in CSP behind that damn purple spec miata.

now days...I'm taking 4 days to pop off a damn oil pump and pop another one in.....just to change the timing shaft for my dizzy so I can run a dual pickup for my msd for the Z.

I'm getting lame for cars...

I can do all the work in a few hours to change an engine on a helicopter and get it out the door the next morning for testing, but now for cars...I take a week to even do a damn dizzy swap. Lazy, tired, or don't care...pick two.

And if your having a problem with your back....just get a damn inversion table...it will save your life.

buahahaha... looking for the pic of the pedel shit...I found the pic for getting the fuel tank out of a car...

those were the days....

That's fuckin' hilarious! How did you set it up like that? You weren't worried about scratching it, or bending the axles, wheels, etc.?
