Ok, so without divulging much, someone here where I work took the hard drive out of their computer when they went on leave, and took it home.

Let's say that the corporation that I work for has their own law-enforcement personell, who are allowed to detain people infinately.

Now, to the meat of the story:
This guy took the hard drive out of his computer before he went on vacation, because he "didn't have a backup". So, because said drive left the instalation, probably with Personally Identifiable Information (I don't know yet, because I haven't gotten to that step, the drive is still cloning.) on it, I have to file an incident report. Not a CERT report, thank god, but I still have to create an incident report. :(
Said person is a Local National, and when he went on vacation, he traveled to Turkey. Not my idea of a friendly nation, especially when we didn't have any idea where said data was. This guy is getting burned, Bad.

So, I'm sitting here at work, I got here at 0715 this morning, and I didn't even leave to go eat lunch. I'm estimating that after I run the log collectors, I'll be here past 2000. Ugh. Not much fun. So, overtime for me, not bad pay, but I could think of a million better things I could be doing. And most of it is babysitting a computer running some specialized software.

The one break today I had was when I had to drop off my car at the dealership to pick up the rental. (The rental is a Civic Type S btw.)

I hate this crap.
</rant>

Oh yeah, said corporation is the DoD.

pics of Civic type s..

nevermind..

Yeah, it's got a powerband similar to my civic though, not very exciting.

I wish this drive would get done cloning.

Right now I'm doing what's called a low-level copy. Just copying all the 1's and 0's from the original drive to a backup drive, then I'm going to seal the copied (clone) drive.

Then I have to run some log collector software on the orig drive, and forward the logs up the chain.

No, It'll tell me why he had to take it on holiday to begin with.

Sorry about the cameraphone pics. Here're the pics of the rental:

Anyone know about that engine code? It's pretty cool, a SOHC iVTEC motor, I won't know much more about how it feels until later tonight on the way home. But one thing about this car, it's nice and tight, and it feels more like a sports car than a civic.

Ugh, finally done cloning.

EDIT: I feel like a dumbass. the engine code is R18A2.

I am SO jealous of you.

But I wouldn't go telling us that you're doing anything with anything DoD. just say "Man, I hate working late" and leave it at that.

I don't go telling. It's just a job. Nothing more.

I'm never going to get to leave tonight......

Code:
****************************************
Step 8 of 11
Hashing all the files in the windows\winnt folder
This process will take a while, go get a
   cup of coffee.
****************************************

It's already been 2 hours. :(

Proves that some programmers have a sense of humor.

Hang in there man.

So you're one of the fuckers that screws with my network! McAfee Host Instustion Detection makes it impossible to do ANYTHING. Even patch. I loved it when the Enterprise pushed it out.

Just kidding about the messing with my network. You're not even on the same domain. The EU-net is totally seperate.

No no no I'm Webroot. And I support the enterprise software ( IE DoD Webroot Antivirus antispy) Fuck mccrappy

So you don't like Turkey either. Devout Muslim people piss me off. He's probably a spy, you should probably kill him when he gets back.

wrong thread NOOB!!!!!
