I'm not sure if I'm an "elite Honda guy" haha...but I would pick the Z6 head any day over the Y8 head. However, there is one thing I must know, what year is your car? If it is OBD2, I would go with the Y8, if you weren't looking for an OBD1 conversion. If it is OBD1, it is a no brainer to go with the Z6 head since it is OBD1 and if your car is OBD0, then heck, take the Z6 head, do a swap to OBD1 and run with it. :D Best of luck on your build. Let us know how it goes.

i just got off the phone with the guy he has to z6 heads ones complete the other needs a valve job and so does the y8and thats bare
i have a 93 HB

id just get the z6 that way you want have to convert anything

thanks guys ill be picking it up tonight

am i going to have to change my ECU for vtec??

You'll have to get a P28, make sure it is manual or auto depending on what you have and you will also have to wire your VTEC to your ECU.

Y8 = better quench = capable of higher compression without detonation

The Y8 will get you better compression all you'll need to change is the distributer to a Z6 one. And you wont be able to run more compression on a Y8 head without chance of detonation, higher compression is what causes detonation with lower octane gas.

Y8 also provides higher compression with the head swap, and has the best flowing intake manifold to boot.

Better quench is a design element of the Y8 head that provides detonation resistance on the same grade of fuel, so yes it will allow you to run more compression with less detonation than other heads would.

but all of this kinds goes out the window when you start building the z6 head

well im going to get the z6 head because its ready to be put on the y8 head needs valve work and im new to tucson and dont know of any one i would trust to work on my stuff and i dont have the know how or the tools to do it myself

Z6 head for the win! SWOOSH!

At least you are not going to have to worry about an OBD conversion now. Let us know how everything turns out.

so i got my head and its going on this weekend it seems pretty sound should be a fun weekend i'll take a pic or somthing after

hahaha well first of all i have to do it at night cause if you ever been here in az in summer sun and metal parts dont mix well anyway me and my buddy were doing it was going good until we couldnt get the exhuast mani back on and my head bolts dont really wanna fit my dis.. wont fit becasue of the vtec solinoid other then that its all good but i did get a good "funny" out of it a huge palo verde bettle hit my buddy in the head it was fun not done yet but im closer more details later

heads on missing one bolt ( snaped it good taping it tonight) waiting for dizzy and timing belt (i think) then then im done looks good though

Run a search on Crower and see what comes up. If you don't get the info you need then start your own thread and ask about it. Don't high-jack this guy's thread...
