b18c1 redcoupe.
hey! i just swaped an b18c1on my 93 civic coupe, i`m want to build it for N/A but i just have 5K buget. So, i was tinking just do the head work. i mean, build the head first.

can anyone give me an advise about what parts should i buy? i mean which ones are good. and wich ones will be a waste of money.

i would like to reach the 250 whp N/A but i know it can take more money.

If you want 250 whp and have 5k to spend get a decent turbo setup going and save the rest of the money.

Its not logical to chase 250whp N/A unless you're really trying to prove something. Much more logical to go FI.

actually i was thinking the same, i know that N/A set up will cost a lot and i wont get the power i want.

now i changed my mind, and my goal will be 300 hp FI, of course. there is a friend of mine that will sell me a t t3/t4 turbo, ( used) it comes with a turbo manifold, intercooler and wastegate. so i still have to buy the intercooler piping and other stuff. but the turbo manifold comes from a b16, so idk if it will fit to the b18c1.

Any B-Series manifold will fit.

Now, as far as the turbo setup.. you need to be careful here and choose your parts carefully. If you don't, you could end up with something that will crap out on you, or something that doesn't make the power you want when you want it.

For your goal (300 whp) I'd say go with a 60-1 turbo. Quick spool time, and will make that kind of power all day. GSR's have been known to be very strong engines, but upgrading the internals for FI is always recommended. It just increases the longevity of the engine, no matter how you look at it. Especially if your engine has alot of miles on it, new internals are recommended. AT LEAST go through the engine and replace the bearings, seals, etc.

Good luck

hey thanx for the advice, i appreciate it. and yes i have to change some internals, my ingine has almost 140k miles on it, so i don`t wanna blow it out.
Like most of you guys, i love Honda engines and i`m trying to understand them a lit better everyday, and i have to thanx to you all for been patients with guys like me. (noobes) hahahha

Your not gunnna be able to get to 250 horse N/A.

Read through that link for good info on building your head. But, you dont hafta stop there, keep reading other threads and youll find answers to just about all your questions.

That is quite the informative thread, newb. :D

To the OP, are you planning on getting any type of work done on your head such as a PnP? Also, do you have any idea what parts you are wanting to use for your goals?

If I may suggest, you could start a bit smaller and work on it piece by piece and take your time. Is this your DD?

well, i was thinking on just get the valve train from Crower, (valve spring and TI retainers), i`ve read that the gsr cams will be fine for FI. (at least for my goals, but idk) and get some ARP head studs and get a thiker head gasket
nothing of PnP, not yet.

and yes it is my DD. and i figured out that i better build it up for turbo first.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but there is no "building it up first" for anything. You either build for boost or build for n/a.

 , i think i better start to learn how to write rather than build something.
But that`s why i`m here, to learn something from the pro.

note: thanx for have corrected what i wrote.

No worries. :D Now then, I HIGHLY recommend using the "search" feature and looking around the forums for information on your goals and build.

If you have any further questions about your head build, AFTER you do your research...and read the B16 head build thread that newb posted, which happens to be my thread, please ask.

People on here will usually scold you if you do not do your research first and ask questions later. It's the smart thing to do. Besides that, if you don't do your research, you may end up buying things you don't need for your build and wasting your money as well.

I already started to do my homework. I`m sure i will find everything i need to know, and then as you say, i will ask what you all think about my proyect. (when i `m clear of what i will use)

thanks for everything!

Research is key. But I'll give you a pointer right now. For your power goal, and knowledge level, a turbo kit is your best bet. They are pieced together for you and will get you to that goal.

That way you can learn what each part of the kit does, and piece together your own later on down the road :D

Theres a feller on team integra that built a gsr for all motor and made like 270hp or some jazz like that.

With a wallet as thick as a dictionary though, its just not practical for average Joe import builder to make that much in an N/A application.
