ok i am about to get a honda with a d16z6 and i kinda wanna get a b16 in it. now i read in the swap articles that its a direct bolt in but than it says i need mounts?? so if i was to swap engines what the hell do all i need to do so??

Mounts, shift linkage, axles, ecu, complete engine/transmission, portions of the harness from the b16, mechanical know-how, tools, and a good place to do it.

I say you might need parts of the old B16 harness because some of the plugs for the sensors might be different. For example, on my obd2 LS swap into my 96 EK, the plug for the IACV was 3 wire on the existing d16y7. On the B18b1 it was a 2 wire. So I had to cut and splice the B-Series sensor onto the D-Series harness.

I say mechanical know how because you really can't do a swap if you have never opened the hood of a car before. You'll lose things, and it will just turn out ugly. If you're knew to this, get help, or at least go over a few project threads before you even attempt this.

Good luck.

alright i understand i need the mounts and good stuff like that but what mounts can i use, axle, and ecu? like out of what car can i get the mounts from and axles?? and does anyone know why in the swap articles does it say that its a direct bolt in??

mmmmm I have a 95 civic with a b16 on it... what ur going to need is the back motor mount braket og a integra (manual trans), also the braket that bolts by the timing belt and thats it for the mounts and brackets but u migth have to use the obd1 harness of ur civic well thats how i did it.... the shift linkage u can use the b16 linkages... im using those.... with the harness you migth run in some problems with the injectors.... distributor plug.... and the alternator.... but if u dicide to do it i help u out with that... my b16 is runing and i use it for my daily driver with no problem...

hmotorsonline.com, complete B16A swap. all you'll need is a throttle cable bracket from innovative mounts, new coolant hoses, and wire in the knock sensor.

What article are you reading?

the engine swap 101 it says a direct bolt in but than i noticed that it says the 4th gen needs all of that goodness. thats my fault i just read it wrong because its gives you a little explanation on all the swaps in the generations. but its doesnt really in the 5th and so on just if they are direct bolt or if you need something. not like a full descript like some of the others do.

Ah, ok. Yeah that article probably should be updated a bit. It says "completely bolt-in" because you can bolt it in using the appropriate stock mounts, you don't have to cut or move anything around as opposed to an H22 or K-series swap. You'd still need to purchase the appropriate OEM mounts though, which, in this case, would be mounts from a 94-01 Integra. A lot of motor swap packages will come with factory mounts...

yeah im not sure about the 94-01 integ axles bc i have a jdm b16 SiRII with lsd and i have tried 94-01 integ axles and 99-00 si axles and both seem to be pulling out when ever i make a right turn and accelerate....it makes a violent clunking sound and i can feel it through the steering wheel

hahaha thats funny no no your f****** hilarious im a noob. yeah i am new to sitting in front of a computer bc i actually work on these hondas and build them.... i was just trying to help people by warning them about the problem i had with 94 integra axles in a b16 and possible get my own help but noo. you had to go and b a smart a** and think your cool bc you have been sittin in front of a computer since 2006 and you your old enough to be my dad and your sitting there all day in front of a computer say stuff you dont even know what your talking about dog get a life or actually get some VTEC

where do you work a body shop? or pep boys?
haha MTP

I'm old enough to be your dad? What are you, 12? I'm only 25 dude, not really that old. 25 probably seems elderly though if you're an 18 year old know-it-all douche...

And yes, I've been here since 2006 and have made a lot of posts. So what? See the little reputation meter under my name? That means I've helped a lot of people on here, which in turn means I probably know what I'm talking about. I've owned five different Hondas since I turned 16 and have helped lots of friends work on theirs, so I think I'm somewhat qualified to dispense advice.

And no, sorry, I don't work at a body shop or at Pep Boys, I work in an office at a salaried job with benefits. A college degree really helps you out in the job department there junior...

I soooooooooo badly wanted to give you a "YOU DON'T KNOW JACK! I'm just repping you out of pity, you fool!" rep, but the freakin' reg God's aren't allowing it. haha Still, your post was GREAT! HAHA! You "un-helpful" piece of....:D

dude your askin people for rep.... who does that? and every thread i so called jacked was about the same problem i am having with my b16 and i actually helped some people by telling them my experience. and all the info you gave them didnt help at all. ooo and no 25 isnt old or anything i just think its kind of old to be sitting in front of a computer all day. i mean seriously any time i log on you are on "crushing noob ambitions" i joined this hondaswap to get a little info but still work on my car but you you dont even ask any questions bc you have nothing to actually fix or do all you do is give bulls**t ideas how to fix other peoples stuff which doesnt even help out in the end. you got your 75 rep by telling people how to change tires. and actually im not a noob. cars include (jdm type r EK hatch) (99-00 si b16 in crx) (ls in EG hatch) and now im trying to figure out this LSD clunking on my jdm b16 eg.. hmmmmmm and what did you swap into those two accords, that prelude, the VW, and the integra..hahahaha so get at me MTP

The other thread you jacked was from 2007, you moron. Way to check the dates before hitting the "reply" button. And since I sit in front of a computer for work most of the day anyway, I don't see any problem with hopping on HondaSwap once in a while to answer some questions. And yeah, I don't ever recall giving anyone tire changing advice on here, so I don't know where you got that idea from.

All I said was start your own thread, I wasn't even nasty about it. You're the one who went and wrote a big, long douche-bag response. If you have advice for someone, then give it to them. If you have a question of your own, then start your own thread and ask it...
