alright.. just wondering what the current price per pound of aluminum would be.. i have a shit ton of cans to recycle.. is there a site that shows it?

It varies from day to day, but on average I think its about 55-60 cents a pound for cans. Copper is where its at, $3.00 a pound, but its hard to come by.

It may be, that is just the Ohio average, but Im sure its more in CA cause of all the environmental problems/concerns out there. Just turn them in, even if its not that much its more money than you have now right? Unless you have to drive across the state to cash em in.

well, after some more searching i found this

"As of January 1st, 2007 California Redemption Value (CRV) is $1.60 per pound and there are approximately 31.3 aluminum cans to one pound."

This price is about 6 time the actual salvage value of aluminum cans at salvage yards in other States.

that was 1.5 yrs ago.. i'm sure its higher now

Holy shit, thats insane, you couldnt even get that much for wheels here. The most I ever got was 80 cents a pound for extrusion, which is like wheels, heads, stuff like that, heavy high-grade clean aluminum. Thats crazey.

The manager dude at the recycling center told me what he sells it for but I forgot, I can ask on Sat.

I have piles of aluminum in my back yard. 1" square stock, 2" square stock, 4" square stock, and crap loads of random sheets/pieces. I was shopping at a metal scrap yard (Treasure in them thar hills) and came across loads of clean, straight, unused stock. So I dropped a couple hundred bucks, and have had aluminum handy for dozens of random projects. Cost was like 1/50th of what it would have been to buy it off of a shelf.

the place i went to was $1.56/lb for cans only.. for scrap aluminum it was like $.20/lb or something..

Don't you pay a deposit? Here in MI we pay a 10 cent deposit on any beer or soda cans or bottles, including plastic ones. That means for a pound of aluminum cans, the value is $3.10.
