bad strut?

my left rear tire has less wheel gap than all the others. and if i grab ahold of the wheel well with my hands i can pull it up to make it the same as the others..
i hear a noise that sounds like a stressing e-brake, even when it's down. idk if it's a bad strut or if it's a bushing somewhere in the rear control arm. ordering megan springs monday and i dont wanna use that strut if it's for some reason bad. next paycheck is gunna be toiko shocks i beilve. would that solve my problem?

ehh like 2-3 inches i think. idk i'm bad with guessing shit like that.
i'm hoping it's just the spring seeing as how i'm replacing them anyways.
 
No, I'd bet money a broken strut. Push on that part of your car like you'd give cpr, downward. If it creaks, like your saying, it's the damper that's shot. Just happened to me. I found some tokico blues on ebay for 240 with free shipping at the time. If you want adjustable firmness, go with Illumina's. Look for a seller named JDMWerks on ebay, and he's got it for cheap. A bad strut wont make it sag, if you push down on it and it seems real bouncey then its the strut, but Ive never heard of a shock making the car sit lower.:shrug2:
 
Possibly if it were bad for an extended period of time. Idk. It's late, I'm tired, and I might be wrong. Mine sat a little bit lower, but only about a 1/2". But that's with tein s-techs that hardly put tension an the strut rod retaining nut.
 
Just an FYI for the original poster here...

If you're buying new shocks within the next few weeks, then why would you worry about installing your springs right now? Have you ever done suspension before? I would not want to take apart the shock/spring assemblies more then once if I didn't have to.

Just wait until you have both the shocks and springs and then install everything at once...

yes i've done suspension work and i know it's a bitch. if the sturt it self isnt bad. than the shocks arent going to be the next thing on my list. more likely an exhuast. my car has kyb struts so i'm thinking it wont be bad to ride on them with megan's for a coupla months at the most. i'm also thinking it's a busing that connects something to the lower control arm. it's like 3-4 inches thick and looks like some sort of arm. the bushing looks kinda beat but i'm not sure.

Ah, ok then. Yeah if you have after-market shocks already then you should be fine. If the shock is bad though, then I'd say definitely wait and do the new shocks and springs at the same time...
 
i'm not using anything that was already on the car. the frame was bent when i bought it. the previous owners used washers to seperate the front lower control arm to make the car drive straight. so i therfor trust NOTHING they have done to the car. and also i think they didnt use the right strut for some reason.
 
Struts don't set your ride height, the springs do. It's usually sagging springs that cause's a car to tilt. Or it could be your bent frame, or any other bent suspension parts.
