hi!

beeing that i'm new at this honda stuff, i have some simple question to start with.
i owe a 91 civic ED6 with a d15b1 engine(code). browsing the web for engine codes i've found out that d15b1 (70 hp) was produced only with 8valve head. however, his bigger brother d15b2 (92 hp) is in fact the same engine as d15b1 (same bore and stroke), with the exception of having 16v head. considering the fact that my civic has 16valve head, does that make it a d15b2? i know the easiest way to find out would be to take a dyno-test, but i haven't found the time yet...
second question would be what do acronymes DX, LX, SI etc stand for? i guess my car is DX, right? VIN number is JHMED63400Sxxxxxx.

and now the important stufffff :)
which swap is do-able in my case? which engine series should i stick to? please have in mind (if possible) that i live in croatia (europe), so if you could recommend something that is europe domestic market, i would be gratefull...

tnx

I don't know about that other junk but I would recommend doing these particular swaps seeing as this would be your first swap: either the D16z6, or the DOHC ZC. both very cheap and decently powered motors. there are different variations to these that you can do but for simplicity I would do these motors. You can find other more detailed info either here or at d-series.org.

i have the same problem i have a 91 ef usdm civic hatch i want speed basically equal top and bottom.

if you have the $$ go with a B16 preferably the A2 or A3. I know this forum says that the wiring's hard, but since you are new to this you should have a shop do it anyway and they can figure that out. Its well worth the power. I've had both the B16 and B16A2 swaps and with the light body it is quick as hell. Put a turbo on and you can easily hit 300whp. I've had every major swap (B16s, GSR, H22, K20) and D series swaps don't even compare.
The only reason you might want to is because you're new, but in the long run you'll wish you'd have gone B-series.

I have the same car and when i came to swap i went Bseries i think it is the most favorite swap on a 91' hatch.

Good luck any way!!

Did you happen to read the part above saying this thread is five years old?

Apparently not...
