hey guys well i reset my cam timing, and followed to book to a ..T..! , but it still wont run well unless you advance the ign timing all the way. i did the compression test , 181, so that rules that out. The head is brand new, also has lost power too. very sluggish.. IDK maybe i jumped a tooth then i cinched the tensioner down. . any ideas?

Yeah, check the belt for a skipped tooth for certain. Also, check out the plug gaps. Distributor cap / rotor / wires.. Check for loose connections and make sure you have good solid grounds in place. Being that you have a "new" head, I'd assume all of that stuff was removed and or replaced.

P.S. CEL? any codes?

as for the C.E.L no , no codes at all, yes i replaced the piston rings and rod bearings, honed the cylinders , as for the head, it was rebuilt by a great machine shop with the best rep in town.i used the fel pro permatorque head gasket, which i had good luck with on my v8's. i am definetely gonna pull the timing belt off again and re time it again, if the timing is "on" maybe i will try to back it up 1 tooth, so when i put tension on it it even's out, i know that these honda's are very touchy with the timing...

it only happens when it warms up though, so it most likely is a timing issue, especially because i have to fully advance the ign timing to get it to run. but it is NOT hard to start though barely hit the key and she fires right up cold or warm, but it does sound a bit lower pitched then before the rebuild (when cranking the motor over), i refuse to give up on her! she has been good to me, and i intend to be good to her,

please keep posting your thoughts on what else i can try!, it is greatly appreciated ., hopefully some day soon i can return the favor to you all.
thanks guys

If it's not the timing, it's possible the o2 sensor was damaged or decided to fail durring the rebuild. Durring cold operation, the ecu will mainly rely on pre-programed fixed values and not compensate for o2 readings. But after it's warmed up, it will use the o2 to adjust fuel trim and timing advance. So, to me, there's another possibility for you to check.

Otherwise...consider hondata? or a datalogging solution? Nice to have regardless.

Good info! thankyou, i will be sure to check that too. i am lookin into hondata/data logging. . i will keep you all posted...
