hi i was wondering if anybody knows where can i get a digital gear indicator for my 89 honda civic? i can only find them for bikes, and they are small. and if there is any how do you connect them?

thanksn for any help

I believe there's no drop-in indicator for H-pattern transmissions. Motorcycles have sequential transmissions.

It would have to guess based on rpm and mph readings. Exactly what hondata does. It would take something semi 'custom'. No wire you can just splice into for say, like a tach.

I've seen drag racing tachs that had gear indicators on em..

But why? You should just know what gear you're in.. get to know your car! If its a stick, then its the gear you put it in, if its an auto, count the shifts up and down.. It'll soon become automatic for you to just "know".

Unless maybe he's teaching someone else to drive? I had a rough time teaching some people how to drive stick--They just couldn't figure out which gear they were in without looking down and shifting the entire time...

That's true. I normally drive a 5 speed and when I hopped in a 6spd and 4spd it was no problem at all.

Depending on what you're looking for.....

Hondata s300 has a gear indicator. It's calculated by transmission ratios, RPM, and ground speed.
