is it true that if you weld a piece of steel or aluminum inbetween your two rear strut housings, almost like a joice that it will give you just as much if not more stability than a rear strut bar?

Yup, you can do that. It would actually be better than most strut braces. Just make sure the car is sitting completely straight before you weld!

Honestly I'd probably NOT do this, unless you're a decent fabricator and you're confident that you can get the car sitting completely flat and straight. Also keep in mind that this is going to limit the use-ability of your trunk. If the car is a track whore and you don't care about the trunk, then go for it, but if it's a daily driver type vehicle then you might now want to permanently attach a piece of metal in your trunk like that.

Companies like Password JDM and others do make solid rear bars (solid as in no hinged flex points) that are bolt on. They're a little pricey, but they will at least look nicer, perform the same, and be easily removable if you should choose to do so....

i'm not the best welder. but i work at a body shop and my boss is a pretty decent one. and for the car being straight. how would i check that, level? the car is a dd but not forever. and yeah i was looking at some password jdm stuff and jdmcarboy.com has a x pattern bar type brace for the trunk that looks pretty legit. but that would completly take up my whole trunk

Yeah I'd probably set the bar in there and check it with a level before you welded anything. If your boss is a decent welder then you'll probably be alright assuming you don't mind a less useful trunk...

yeah that's what i was thinking. do i weld a bracket to it, or just weld it straight to the housing? and nah i throw like work clothes in there and that's about it. dont have a system or ne-thing and dont plan on getting one so i should be alright. just installed a short throw today, bought the car with a cut one. got a dc teggy shift nob. i like it =)
