Just wondering because I am getting alot of different answers and want to for FACT from someone who has done it ! !

Will the B16A2 bolt up to my DX SOHC manual transmission ? Just need a new clutch maybe. ?
If I get the computer with the motor, can I just swap computers also ? OR will I need to rewire the harness ?
Motor mounts ?
Header ?

I would think the engines would have the same outer dimesions with mounts and stuff, but I m being told different. . . maybe just trying to be sold something I dont need ? Anyone know for sure ?
 
I don't know where you're getting your information, but you need to look elsewhere from now on...

No, a B16 will NOT bolt up to your stock DX transmission. You need a B-series transmission for a B-series engine. Why would you want to use a stock DX tranny on a B16 anyway? The gear ratios suck for acceleration purposes...

You can only plug in the computer if it's programmed for the same OBD setup that the chassis uses. If you're talking about the B16A2 from the 99-00 Si, then no, you can't just plug it into your 95 DX chassis. The computer is OBD2B; your car is OBD1.

As for the mounts and header, both of them need to come from a B-series engine.

I honestly dont know.. all the bseries engines and trani's interghange... I've been seeing people talking about d series heads on b series blocks.. Good question.. I'l start looking at as many pics of the 2 trani's you can find and compare them side by side to look at the bolt patern.. definatly search the forums for that on here.. probally been covered.. only way to know for sure is to try though if you have all b16 block and dseries trani on hand.. go for it see what happens, post it up

Sorry . . just saw the post below with the same swap . . I figured this was a common swap. I was told the B16a2 i was getting was OBD1 like mine ! So I figured the harness might match.

But I didnt consider that honda would make totally different mounts for such similar motors. Just didnt want to have to deal with swaping a tranny / axles and all. I wanted to just unbolt this motor and throw another one in it. . . but I guess I need the whole swap !

Honestly its not a very hard swap, and really is a straight bolt-in that only requires minor wiring.

Yep, you need the whole swap. It will bolt in (i.e. you don't have to cut and weld any mounts or anything like that) but you do need the entire swap...
 
I already know the damn answer if you woulda payed attention.. All b series engines and trani's will bolt up... but I seriously doubt a d series trani will, EVEN THOUGH If you really do read all these forums, theres alot of mixed info out there.. come on now, seriously, you answer this then, WTF Is going on with people talkin bout minime motors b16/b18 with a dseries head...?? That shit threw me for a loop cause theres so much mixed info out there.. wich is WHAT THE GUY WAS TALKING ABOUT IN THE 1st place.. for christs sakes..
Mayyybbeee I left a post cause I'd like some closure on that babble goin round thats saying its possible.. so shit help me out on that to.. All might gods of the honda motor.. ROFL
 
Ok ladies. . . what do you think would be the most fun / easiest engine only swap for my POS stock dx civic with 280,000 miles ? Dont want to re-invent the wheel, but want something fun.

If I had to do all that trouble with wiring and transmission . . . I think I would go with a B18C ?!? Wouldnt you ?

If you have the money, definatly!! Theres JDM Salvage sites all over the place selling complete swaps ecu harness engine trani the works..
 
A mini-me is a SOHC (D-series) non-vtec block mated to a SOHC vtec head. You cant swap parts between families, but within them is where some very nice pieces come from. (ie Mini-me, LSVtec, CRVtec)
 
I haven't seen anyone at all talking about D-series heads on B-series blocks. That's not what a "Mini Me" is. A "Mini Me" is when you take a VTEC D-series head and put it on a non-VTEC D-series block, usually a 1.5-liter block. It has nothing at all to do with anything B-series related. Why the hell would you want to put a D head on a B block? That's retarded. It's not possible, first of all, and even it was, it would be a major downgrade (going from dual cams to a single cam).

And I flat out answered the transmission question. You cannot bolt a B-series engine to a D-series gearbox. It doesn't work. Period. There doesn't need to be any further discussion on it...

he was talking about the cross communications between people sayin you can and people saying you cant.. Dude, I been up all fuckin night hookin up 3 tens and 2 12's with 3 amps in my teg.. I dont need the down talking shit.. when I'm not out fixing someones car i'm in here trying to give any help I cn and this caught my attention cause I have a CRX Coming and need more info on the D series wich I'm totally pulling out anyways.. I have an LS Block in my garage from my last TEG, I already have 2 builds planned.. ones pretty much paid for as soon as this crx gets here and I sell my teg.. blahh, I'm not fuckin stupid I've been building motors for damn near 15 years.. If I ever comment with (Thats a good question) It generally means I'd like to know to so someone fucking help this guy out, not h come fuck with me because you think your a ref in a football game calling me out on technicalities.. grow up man..
