OK, I am very confused and PO lol. I came close to buying a 1999 honda civic dx with a bunch of crap i wanted already in it ....but of course it cant be that good. No AC! Apparently the honda civic DXs do not come with ac..or at least that one. ..it gets over 100 deg down here so ac is a must... What hatchback trims come with ac and witchones dont? (from the factory)

Wrong place to post that.

To answer your question though, you would want a Lx, Hx, Ex, or an Si . I'm not sure if they made an Lx that year though.

Didn't know that, the guy must have removed the A/C then.

It may have also been a dealership option. Lots of people remove the A/C pump from their cars because it's such a parasitic drain on the power.

In 100+ deg. in Mississippi, daily driven, ull change ur mind. lol

when doing a car wash you should really get up under the car.thats how you prevent it..or just park it for the winter

That doesn't work for me; and I live in NC. Plus, with speeds over ~60mph, you'd get better MPG with A/C vs. windows due to the aerodynamic drag caused.

Also, A/C only causes drag on the motor when it's turned on.

Oh I do wash it thoroughly, at least once a week, and I wax it regularly too. Still though, it's nearly impossible to entirely prevent rust when you live somewhere with harsh winters and salted roads. My car looks a lot better then some of the other 11 year-old Hondas I see driving around, but it does have a few tiny rust bubbles starting to form in the typical spots (quarter panels, near the sunroof, etc.).

And yeah, obviously garaging it for the winter would be ideal, but not everyone has a winter beater and/or garage space...

So how hard would it be and what would be the best way to put AC in the car? Find a 1999 hatch at a junkyard and take all the ac crap?

Yep, pretty much. Does the car still have a D-series engine in it? If it's got a B-series or something else, then it will be a bit trickier. If it's still got a D16 in it though, then yeah, you need to just go to a junkyard and rip everything out of another Civic...
